Does anyone know how I can find out what happened to both of my grandads after WW1.

I know they both survived the war but cant find them anywhere.

Any suggestions please.

Thank you in advance.

KathleenBell,
My Nan lived in Willesdon in 1939 but I believe they split up long before then.

Did Archibald marry Ann Eliza King ? If so they were in Chertsey in 1923 and Ann eliza died in Essex in 1953.

Who is the person recorded on Arthurs headstone?

Edit: there is an Archilbald Arthur living with Androniki Arthur in the late 50's in Twickenham. Androniki died in Ware, Herts in 1973. He was born in 1898

namesleesome,
Archibald was married to Alice Eliza King and she died in Essex in 1953.
Where did you find this information please.
Archibald and Alice and my mum were in Malta for the first part of WW1 and I believed only my Nan & Mum came back around 1914/15.

There is a tree on Ancestry that suggests that George Henry Tucker is the son in law of Archibald & Ann Eliza. It doesn't show the name of Georges father.

A previous post by AnnMarieG about Fatini:

https://www.genesreunited.com.au/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1206825

Further info copied from that thread:

"my grandad [Archibald Arthur ] was in the army and my nan, grandad and my mum lived in malta until 1914 when my nan and mum came back to england but my grandad didnt."

Did you ever send for Fatini's death cert, AnnMarie?

As you said Fatini and Archibald were friends in the same care home, perhaps her name is on his stone because she had no family to erect a stone on her actual grave, ??

ADDED:
However, you're not asking about her on this thread!

AmG we crossed.

It was on Ancestry as were the ER's mentioned.

I wonder if Fatini was connected to Androniki.

Edit: I have just read through the old thread. Hampton & Twickenham are side by side in Middlesex. So the Archibald/Androniki ER is likely to be correct.

I found his grave and found out that he had been living in Twickenham in the 50's.I dont know who this Androniki was or Fataini only that I believe they were of Greek origin so presumed he met them and came back to England with him. Androniki is listed as being his wife but as far as I know he was not divorced from my nan.(wife in name only.lol )

nameslessone, That George Henry Tucker is right as he is my dad.

Sorry being thick but what does ER mean.

A bunch of death certs might help.

nameslessone, Thank you so much for the 1923 ER. I thought my Nan came back to Essex straight after the war. More intrigue.

More ER results:

Archibald and Alice Eliza are also together at the same address in 1921.

Slightly odd in both 1921 and 1923 -
probably it's just the way the address has been typed, on two lines - but against Alice's name it says 10 Star Cottages, and against Archibald's it says Burwood Road.

If following the same pattern as for other married couples on the ER, one would expect either "10 Star Cottages, Burwood Road" against each name, or else the address for the first one and "Do." for the other partner.
But it's likely just the way it's been typed.

Archibald and Androniki are at 26 Cardinals Walk, Hampton in 1961, as well as in the 50's.

Is this coincidence?? Or two marriage registrations for some reason?

Marriages Sep 1904 (>99%)
Arthur Archibald Islington 1b 526
King Alice Eliza Islington 1b 526

Marriages Sep 1908 (>99%)
ARTHUR Archibald W. Ham 4a 629
KING Alice Elizabeth W. Ham 4a 629

Looks like the 1908 couple:
