This would be parish records. You can try looking at the big companies, family search or www.freereg.org.uk.

If it is Scotland you need Scotland People.

Hi ErikaH

Thanks for your replies.

The only sites I pay for are this one and ancestry.

I'm looking for the marriage of a John Marriott & his wife Catherine ?
I'm thinking seeing as she's was born in Middlesex and that's where their eldest child was born (whitechapel) then that's where they most likely got married?

It seems to be the only one existing online.

Doesn't mean it's necessarily the correct one.

Possible birth of daughter Ellen:

Following on from that previous thread, I received the certificates yesterday and thats what brought me to look for the marriage of Mary's parents.

I also ordered the certificate for John Burkes death in 1869 but apart from the fact he died in a coal fall it didn't really throw up any more leads for me unfortunately.

Once again thank you for your help.

Thats brill !!

Caroline Marriott - is this Catherine Marriott then, i'm assuming so ?

So it looks like Hannah Marriott's husband John isn't living with them at this point ?

Sorry for all the questions, I easily get muddled up and it doesn't help that they all seem to have the same names ....

So am I right in thinking that Catherine Marriott was born in Middlesex and so was her eldest child Ann, however, Catherine's mum Hannah was born in Staffordshire where they eventually settled ?

Doesn't that seem a bit odd for back in those times as I know that they didn't travel around much.
