found them beneficial ?
Dad used to wear a copper bangle which he said seem to ease his aches and pains in his joints.
He didn't try the Bio Magnetic ones.
OH has probs with finger joints.
I've seen them around for ages, wondered if anyone used them and found them beneficial.
Positive or negative comments welcome please.
Sandie.

Thanks Norah
Our Dr is very good tho doesn't like prescribing pain killers unneccesarily and OH doesn't want to take them, He takes Glucosamine and Condrotyn (spl ??)
Dr did acupuncture for my dad which helped.
OH can't get an apt to discuss them with him for a few weeks as he is on hols.
So thought he may try one of these bracelets, hence my thread lol

we sell um where i work,
weve got the traditional copper ones or the type that are covered to look like a nice mans bracelet,

we also sell ladys magnetic bracelets with pretty coloured stones and patterns beads on um,
ive worn one they are ok,
but then hubby tried one he found it good,

they affect everyone differently,
your hubby certainly wouldnt loose anything by trying it,
in fact its given me a thought to try it for my wrists, they are quiet bad at mo,

Julie Ann, glad your hubby found it good.
I'm sure it affects everyone differently , as our usual doc is away for a few weeks he's going to give it a go.
Thanks for your imput.

He should not use one if he has a pace maker or has epilepsy before seeing his GP.

I can't honestly say. But remember a physiology class in uni where we were shown x-rays of a arthritic hand. One finger alone was unaffected and that was where the lady had worn a gold wedding band. So, my tip is gold :-) perfect excuse to bling it up LOL

Years ago they used to inject it but there's no evidence that it was any more affective, in fact it may well have had a poisonous effect.

Hi Sandie just come back on I had acupuncture for a number of weeks at the hospital for a neck problem it didn't help the neck (found out later it was a torn muscle in arm) but it worked wonders for my hand it lifted the pain completely but a few mths later i fell on it and brought all the pain back since then wore the bracelet and it does help keep meaning to go for acupuncture.

I have seen reports of wedding ring fingers not being affected by arthrtis - and of all my fingers and thumbs, only my wedding ring finger has not need a joint replacement and had stayed nice and straight too. BUT, I only wore a gold wedding ring for a couple of years about 40 years ago and since then have only worn silver rings and jewellry.

A friend I had with bad finger joint pains swore by the aloe vera plant - she could buy big stems of it and she would make a fresh cut in the flesh of the stem and rub the sap on her joints, worked wonders she said. You can buy liquid aloe vera that tastes disgusting. lol

That's interesting about the aloe vera I used to grow it and use it for burns it worked wonders for that think I will grow some more and see how it fares

Hi and thanks for your postings Nora, SS, Hazel and maryjane.
I was out this morning and didn't pick up the thread again til now,---- was just about to delete it strangely !!
The magnets and any other alternative therapy must help some people(or not) in varying degrees.
We're going to give them a try.
And yes Aloe Vera and Tea tree oil I've found excellent as opposed to branded names for various ailments.

Another thought I had - has your OH tried warm wax baths for his hands? I was given those when I was in Bath rheumatology hospital and they feel great! You also get to pick and peel off the wax as it cools and play around with it, making shapes and figures - all good finger therapy. lol I am sure I have seen the wax baths on sale to the public now.

I cant wear anything like that as I am allergic to nickel but I do have a ring - a band I forget what its made of but the whole ring is made of a gem stone its a sort of black colour but not an Onyx. I find it helps but I am not sure if its sort of mind over matter, I believe the ring helps me but am not sure if its the ring or the positive thoughts I associate with the ring if that makes sense.

What about these Tens machines - I saw an ad on the TV they are half price at Lloyds Chemist. I saw a thread on here once where a lot of people swore by them.

I saw a show on the effects of the bracelet.
After much testing the conclusion was that they didn't work.

This is the CBC website with the report:

maryjane- I can remember my nan used to go regularly to Bath and have besides other things, the wax treatment, I was quite young at the time so don't know how good the effect was for her.

Maddiecow we actually have a tenns machine that my dad bought, oh doesn't complain much but never thought about trying that.

Deb the CBC report was interesting reading so I suppose for the people who seem to have relief from using them it is mind over matter, but if it works for them...... !

Thanks all for your imput

Think it's possible it's mind over matter but when I wore mine I didn't notice an improvement but then lost it for a month and could not understand why my hand was aching so much then the penny dropped and I replaced it and found the aches much less
