Sorry not to come back to you sooner Jean, I wanted to check with hubby first.
He has arthritic finger joints in both hands, he wears the magnetic band , looks like a silver watch strap, on his right hand, but he says his left hand has improved also.
So no you don't need one on each wrist, unless you want to of course.

I agree with Purple beware of high cost ones, again it may be mind over matter but hubby can now bend/ squeeze his fingers without pain.

When I first saw them in a local town market the cheapest one was £30+
and it was just a material strap like on the supermarket bags you buy , The one I fancied was gold coloured and about £90 ,so hubby went on the net and bought both of us one each for £14.
At that price we'd thought we'd given them a try, and they seem to work !
Mine looks like a hearts and crosses silver bracelet from Ar*os.

I don't mind leaving the thread ,Purple, if it can help someone:))

Hope you husband can gain some comfort from them Jean, if you choose to go down that road:)

I think as long as people realise this is an old thread then it holds some useful advice and should stay. I have often gone looking for an old thread to double check some info and it's gorn lol !

As long as people google and double check it's safe to use the magnets with the medication or ailments they have, I think it's worth trying, sometimes it's a bit 'mind over matter' but some products are very expensive so beware of splashing out if you are not sure.

Sandie, might try this for OH, his hands are getting bad. Have you heard whether you need a bracelet for each hand? PM me if you want to delete the thread.

Hubby and I have Magnets in our Pillows and they do help. Don't get the neck aches i used to. So Yes anything with a magnet in it is beneficial I think. My mother wore a Magnetic Bracelet and found it helped her enormously.
Hope your Hubby gets it sorted soon. Glucosomine is good but sometimes you need that little bit more to ease the aches and pains.
I had acupunture on my hips but It didn't do a thing for me either.

Thanks for the info again.

I have been given 2 small magnet discs to use for my back and have to say that I had the best nights sleep last night for a long time. Will continue to use them and see if there is any improvement.

I nudged this thread for Gem Queen who was asking about the magnetic bracelets on Chat.
Replying to born in kent, you can get some good deals on e.bay, that's where we bought ours. The strengths of the magnets were not given, but obviously you see pics. Hubby has one resembling a watch strap, mine is similar to a 'hearts and kisses' bracelet ( quite fashionable). They both cost about £14.
Beware of the prices, I first saw then at a local well known farmers and produce market, where other stalls set up also.
We were both interested in the product, and one took my eye as it would have complimented a gold bracelet I bought in Turkey a few yrs ago. This guy wanted £100 for the gold coloured bracelet and the cheapest one with one magnet on an elastic strap was £35.
Both hubby and ! have found benefits from the bracelets, he has no pain in his arthritic fingers, and I can lever or jump up onto my kitchen units to open my high windows.lol
Don't know if it is mind over matter, but wearing them has helped us both.

I've worn a bio mag bracelet for about 10 years and although it hasn't helped my back it had stopped all the problems i had with knee pain.

i used to get asked why I was wearing two watches..........

LOL left hand time clock........right hand body clock....bioflow watch type bracelet!!!

Think it's possible it's mind over matter but when I wore mine I didn't notice an improvement but then lost it for a month and could not understand why my hand was aching so much then the penny dropped and I replaced it and found the aches much less

maryjane- I can remember my nan used to go regularly to Bath and have besides other things, the wax treatment, I was quite young at the time so don't know how good the effect was for her.

Maddiecow we actually have a tenns machine that my dad bought, oh doesn't complain much but never thought about trying that.

Deb the CBC report was interesting reading so I suppose for the people who seem to have relief from using them it is mind over matter, but if it works for them...... !

I saw a show on the effects of the bracelet.
After much testing the conclusion was that they didn't work.

I cant wear anything like that as I am allergic to nickel but I do have a ring - a band I forget what its made of but the whole ring is made of a gem stone its a sort of black colour but not an Onyx. I find it helps but I am not sure if its sort of mind over matter, I believe the ring helps me but am not sure if its the ring or the positive thoughts I associate with the ring if that makes sense.

What about these Tens machines - I saw an ad on the TV they are half price at Lloyds Chemist. I saw a thread on here once where a lot of people swore by them.

Another thought I had - has your OH tried warm wax baths for his hands? I was given those when I was in Bath rheumatology hospital and they feel great! You also get to pick and peel off the wax as it cools and play around with it, making shapes and figures - all good finger therapy. lol I am sure I have seen the wax baths on sale to the public now.

I was out this morning and didn't pick up the thread again til now,---- was just about to delete it strangely !!
The magnets and any other alternative therapy must help some people(or not) in varying degrees.
We're going to give them a try.
And yes Aloe Vera and Tea tree oil I've found excellent as opposed to branded names for various ailments.

That's interesting about the aloe vera I used to grow it and use it for burns it worked wonders for that think I will grow some more and see how it fares
