I have one as well, great support for the back. Took a few nights to get used to though. Definately gives you a better nights sleep.

Regards,
Steve.

I have one its fab, for starters the OH sleeps sounder so I don't wake up freezing cold because he's manage to nick the duvet, also I've had back problems nothtng major but unlike our old matteress it feels better rather than worse after a nights sleep.

The one we have is complete memory foam, there are a wide variety out there so its worth looking at whats best for you. I would say if your not sure might be worth trying a topper, as thats the cheaper option, and sometimes a topper is a thicker layer of memory foam than what you get in a 'memory foam matteress'.

I was very interested in getting one but my friend beat me to it..she said hers is very confortable but VERY hot.

As I get hot in bed anyway I wonder if anyone else has found this

I don't like them but the ones that are sprung mattress with memory foam layer over the top aren't so bad. Why not go in a showroom and try one? LOL

They are great I have a bad back and I have tried every matress possible. I then tried the memory foam matress 3 months ago and not looked back. We sell beds in our shop and the one we got was £199.

We have a memory foam topper and it is great, I won't say my back is cured but it is certainly better than with just an ordinary mattress. But, you do get hot.

We have one of the egg box type mattress toppers and I can honestly say for both of us we wouldn't be without it.
Both of us have bad backs but since buying it last Oct we have found it helps us tremendously and most of the time we get a really good nights sleep.
I say most of the time cos just before Christmas I put my lower back out in a different place and it went into spasm and i was so stiff and in agony,The mattress topper then couldn't perform miracles!! but at least I was still more comfortable in bed than sitting in a chair or even trying to walk
We have never found it too hot for sleeping though.
When we went to our daughters for Christmas we took the topper with us .

Wouldnt be without it!!

Thanks for the opinions. Will have to consult OH about the heat given off. Could be uncomfotable in the summer. I had forgotten the egg-box type. No local bed shop, have to travel 20 miles to find one, need to know what I am looking for before I go! Will let you know how we get on, when the snow has gone. Our roads are clear, but flooding is starting locally, in Herefordshire and Gloucester, so the box says.

They don't give off heat, the material just means they warm up off your body heat, also because it moulds to your body theres no/minimal air gaps between you and the matteress.

I ended up with mine because a family member bought it then complained about over heating, so they've change to using just a topper.

To be honest I don't have an issue with it, and its meant even in this really cold weather we haven't got lots of extra blankets on the bed as I have done in the past. I am guessing in summer it will be just sheets on the bed.

no good if you are having hot sweats!

I wondered about these mattresses and shied away from them as I dont like sleeping on man-made materials - they tend to make me too hot and sweaty and as I have night sweats anyway, I didnt want to make it worse! lol

I have a thick feather mattress topper on my firm bed and it is wonderful! With the feather duvet on top - it is like slipping into a cloud at night. lol

I have a memory foam topper on my aging mattress, very comfortable, but you are right, can be very hot. It's made a huge difference to my sleeping comfort, despite the heat, therefore allowing a longer, much more restful sleep. I'd recommend it. I have mine enclosed in a full mattress cover, which is deep enough to fit both the mattress and topper, otherwise I found the topper tended to be skewed on top and I was forever trying to straighten it out !!

Mine doesn't get hot at all........it has some *stay cool* ventilation in it somewhere.......paid quite a bit extra for it but it was worth every penny and more.

My back, though still a problem from time to time, has improved 100 fold since I got mine........ I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone xx

We paid over £800 for a Sely Memory Foam Mattress, was assured that it had all the required British Standard requirements, had been washed thoroughly on manufacture, and we paid £75 each for pillows to match.

Result- after a couple of years it was so Hot, brought me out in a terrible rash, which I have only just got rid of after nearly a year. And- I am generally a cold person. Reverted back to our good old Slumberland.

Pillows became hard, and we have just purchased goose down pillows,

To each his own, but I really hated it, I felt so hot and itchy.
