Hiya..
yes i've had quite a lot of acupuncture..my physio does it for me... it's really good although you do need to rest for a few hours afterwards...i found that eventually it wasn't very effective and i had to move on to a tens machine.

the needles only hurt if you tense your body as they go in..

It's worked for me for several problems. I always feel really thirsty the rest of the day after a treatment - and sometimes feel grotty the next day (that's the best way of describing it) but after that I feel better. I was sceptical at first but believe in it now.

I had acupuncture during labour!

I was part of a pilot project at a German maternity hospital and Yes, it helped enormously.

Hi, after trying umpteen treatments for agonising back pain I had acupuncture treatment some while ago, I went along, without much faith, because nothing else had worked, After three sessions I noticed a real improvement, had another three and then didn't need any more for a year. It didn't cure the problem but I think it's the best thing since sliced bread!!! If I were young enough, and in labour I would happily use it for pain relief. Hope all goes well

We do sometimes pain relief by injecting salt water just under the skin of the back.
This also seems to work for somepeople but normally just for a short period normally one week or two

I had acupuncture a few years ago for back pain... I have to say that some of the needles did hurt a bit... and in one session the pin in my elbow was extremely painful. But it worked, and after about 3 or 4 sessions I was considerably better. They also *cupped* me, and I had grains taped to my earlobes which I was to press whenever the pain started, but I found it difficult to sleep as the grains fet like boulders once my head hit the pillow. I had 10 sessions in all... the last 6 or 7 spaced at monthly intervals. I also had some disgusting stuff to drink.... yukkety yukkety yuk!! But my back and joints felt so much better.

I am not sure why I never went again, other than a house move, and a busier lifestyle, oh, and I had got use to the acupuncturist... I was a bit reluctant to try someone new, lol

Good luck

I've had acupuncture once for a neck problem . A doctor from my local practice had just been learning the technique and was eager to try it out.

I must admit I was very sceptical but went along with it. The following day I was swearing and grumbling like mad , as the pain had increased considerably.............however the day after the pain had gone and I've not had that neck problem return. This happened eight or nine yeas ago , so for me it worked wonders.

Good luck Stevie , I hope you get some relief from your pain .

Hi Terry, yes thats where they inject steriods into the facet joints. I had that done on both back & neck........not on the same day......Back had no affect, but neck proceedure helped.
That was followed up by denevtion op on the neck (severing of minor nerves).

Hi
acupuncture seems to work on a lot of people there is another similar technique but a bit more invassive where they put a mixture including painkiller into the small joints between the lumbar vertebrea .Again it works for many but not for all
Tried the later and it worked

Hi Stevie I tried it for Sciatica, and it did help although not straight away. I was in agony with the pain and it did take the edge off.
