I always thought that's what the sofa was for!

Done it loads of times, usually after a skinful, woke up the other morning after a night out still with my shoes and glasses on (and the rest of my clothes too!)

I don't know anyone who sits upright on a sofa - they're for relaxing on and if you can't relax in your own home then where can you?

Go for it Annie - stretch out and score some zeds on your sofa!

My daughters ex's mum had 'sofa' sized duvet's that she'd made - especially for her hubby and sons to use when they decided to doze on the sofa's - usually after the 'footie'!! LOL

Hi gran, does your OH never fall to sleep on his chair.Did you know that men have a switch on their backsides that makes them close their eyes when in contact with a chair .Iv'e never found it but know it's there. Anyway who owns the bl""y sofa anyway?? You have a kip on your sofa if you like , i'll make you one of my patchwork quilts just for that. Sleep tight. Luv Nina

What puzzles me is your OH's reasoning for not napping on the sofa?

Will this encourage poor posture or slovenly ways, or is it just one of his arbitrary rules?

Wait until he is out, grab a pillow from your bed and a wee blanket and go for it, it could become a secret vice!

I shall be interested to see if the sky does actually fall in, of course it could spark an almighty row and he could end up sleeping on it permanently !!

I often have a nap on mine after lunch. I find if I go to my bed for a nap I dont want to wake and get up. The mind says 'you are in bed, you sleep in bed for 8 hours' or some such. On the settee I find I wake after an hour which is usually enough to keep me going for the rest of the day.

My OH often falls asleep sitting on the sofa, particularly after dinner these days. He is 79 and has Alzheimers. He also falls asleep when I am driving. I wish I could fall asleep that easily but not when driving! I did doze off briefly a couple of times on one occasion, woke with a jerk just as I was beginning to veer. Gave me quite a shock.

Huia who has almost finished lunch and will be heading to the sofa for a siesta, I hope.

I have been lying on mine since 6 o clock after being woken by next doors chicken,I think a fox may have got in.I always lie on the settee as does my daughter.OH hardly ever uses them as he spends most of his time in the study.
Grannie just go ahead and stretch out.

Sofa's are multifunctional devices - a modern word these days lol

I generally fall asleep sitting up on mine. I dont lie down on it, cos its only a two seater, but when we had a three seater sofa - PURE BLISS to slide down and eventually lie out and then drift off to sleep for an hour or even 10 mins.

What is your OH like!

Bring the double bed into the lounge instead then, see how he likes that!

Hello Grannie, sofas to me are for relaxing and lounging on.....or sitting.....whatever your wish.....

I treated myself to a woomfy two-seater sofa with extra covers that I fancied......off the internet.......wrong decision.......OK for sitting on, but not comfy enough to rest your head on the arms......so I have a big footstool to rest my feet.....

My suggestion is to get a comfy footstool, a comfy cushion for behind your head......paint a pair of open eyes on your glasses, sit on your sofa and go to sleep......perhaps he won't notice....

The very best sleeps I ever had were on my sofa! Stretch out, puts lots of cushions behind head and ahhhhhh..... Thankfully I have no OH to stop me, but funnily enough, I had two cousins from US staying with me a few weeks ago, and I came back from work to find HIM fully stretched out on MY sofa, snoring! What cheek! lol

So, Annie, I think your OH is outnumbered:-) A sofa is not simply for sitting upright balancing a china cup of tea and biccie on ones knee....it is a haven of delight-)

Sorry.......I have a touch of verbal diahorrea (sp) this morning......

OH has this huge most comfortable leather sofa.......I am not keen on it, to me it is too flashy, but it is bliss to lie on....

I have always thought that a sofa was used for a 'kip' so that the nice bedspread on the bed wouldn't be crumpled! That's what it's there for - and it's long so that you can lie down on it!

Anyway, you are a granny - you deserve to have a kip when you want it and it's your furniture too. Go for it!!
