Dr Ian Gibson has resigned with immediate effect, so Norwich will be having a by-election soon.

He said his position has become untenable after he was deselected by the labour party.

I've got a feeling he may well hold on Whirls.......but it's no matter........the damage has been done now...both to his government but more importantly and sadly to our country. Whether he is leader or not the next PM has an even more poisoned chalice than GB inherited from Bliar. Taxes will HAVE to increase next year whoever is in.......

I'm not bothered about him personally going. I just want them Out now...... I've more than had enough of them.

It looks like we will be having a general election in October at this rate.

Either that or this will force a new leadership, until the next planned general election..

Muffyxx Report 5 Jun 2009 19:02

Do you think they'll get away with 2 unelected PMs in one term though TW.

I don't think it's a goer .......can't see the public swallowing that again xx

I wouldn't want it, and I don't think any free-thinking person would, but it seems to be the way they are leaning at the moment.

Simply because it gives them the chance as the ruling government to sort the political mess out, and be seen to do so, BEFORE they call a general election.

Up to today I might have agreed with that, but not now, not after all the resignations/promises to stand down, that we've seen over the last 2 days.

Mind you Muffy, GB was so desperate to get the PM job (handed on a plate) that he'll hang on as desperately as he can until the very death but I think come Monday he wont have much choice....i hope he'll go..

Caroline Flint has made herself look a right burk imho.

Well, they normally have a holiday around about now, anyway, don't they... just have an early recession, and ask Sir Alan Sugar and Dot Cotton to caretake for a couple of months.... would be far more interesting, I think, and a much better chance they would have of turning things around, lol!!

And I am only semi-joking!!

Love
