TWG, you simply aren't going to find a British birth certificate for someone not born in the UK.

I have a notion that FindMyPast has some kind of index of British births abroad, but like I said, I'm no expert.

Glad to see you've now been pointed to FreeBMD, the No.1 indispensable first place to look for English & Welsh family history info ...

It could be the wine but I am also seeing Dennmark or is that older generations...bare with me ( just had a disscussion with Oh as to which bare it was...bare bere or bear...well it is Janey we are talking to here.

Hoobity - if you search the IGI for Dippe in Denmark, there are indeed some events, including Heinrich Gabriel Dippe born 1796 possibly married 1821, and marriages for the same name in 1846 and 1854.

Could be related, of course.
