A thread I posted re an apartment in Tenerife was reported, according to my e-mail from GR, as abusive (which of course it wasn't in any way. ) This thread only had four entries on it including mine and was In no way was it offensive so thank you to who ever was petty enough to take the time to report me. I think it would have been better and more friendly to have asked me personally to remove the thread, which I would have done immediately, instead of running to GR.

Hi Cassidy

Thank you for those few kind words. Just think that running to GR is a bit pathetic.

Wendy
I too read your thread, nothing offensive that I saw.

i am adding to this so it stays in "MyThreads" , never know when I might want to contact you, eh?

Linda :o)

Hi Wendy, I think GR use the word abusive for all reported threads. People are so petty aren't they, probably reported it because they saw it as advertising, still it made an impact while it was up there.

Why can't people ask the poster to remove the thread instead of running to GR. One of the worst things they did was to add the request review button, it makes it too easy for people.

Hope it is still lovely and warm for you today and the view of Teidi from the patio is as lovely as ever.

Ditto what you said about the review button Ann. I said, at the time, that it was not a good improvement. What this incident has proved, beyond doubt, is that GR do not read the 'offending' post before pulling it and mailing the offender.

The post was not offensive in any way ,nor was it blatant advertising.
There are more lunatics outside than inside the Asylum and most appear to be on here.

From my experience GR has a bog standard email they send out for any post that has broken the terms and conditions in some way.
Its not because they are "abusive"in the manner that most of us consider to be abusive it just means they didnt fit the rules.
It also dosent mean that someone reported it,the message says that wether it was reported or wether they removed it on their own steam.
Its just the way the system works,

Theres your problem in a nutshell because even with the best intentions its advertising your own goods and services which is against the TCs
They would have snapped that in a flash

My message from GR clearly states - A message you posted on the Genes Reunited message boards has been reported to us - (I cut and pasted this) but I understand what you are saying. My moan is not that the thread was pulled for whatever reason but that someone who read a very inoffensive thread from an equally inoffensive person chose to run to GR instead of contacting the poster, me, direct.

GR must be very over worked trying to keep up with all the people who hit the 'review' button. Very sad really

Wendy,,
There are alwys the 'board police; on patrol,,they have nothing better to do than look for threads that they dont agree with,
I doubt if you will ever know who reported you,,,they are all cowards and rarely own up.
It would seem that GR dont even raed the offending threads,,just pull them regardless,,,If they did actually look at them ,,they would probably see that there is nothing in it that anyone who was normal would see as offensive...and that its just someone who takes it as a personal attack about apartments in Tenerife,,,,!!

Wendy I realise that is what it states but that honestly is the only message they have, there have been lots threads in the past because people have been really offended and upset by it but its just a bog standard reproduced one that they send for every incident, wether you are actually reported or not.
So dont worry that there was some unseen person reporting you because odds are there wasnt,if they saw it as advertising they would have removed it immediately.
People have suggested in the past that they need to make a range of messages but this has never eventuated

Hi Wendy, I didn't see the thread you refer to, but as others say, I think it must be the "advertising" aspect.

If it had been me who'd taken exception to it - which I wouldn't - I'd have worded a pm to you like "hope you don't mind me mentioning this, but any form of advertising is against the T&C's of GR; just thought you ought to know ....." or something like that.

It would be courteous - and dignified - if the person concerned would come forward and say. I'd applaud them for being honest about it.

Anyway, we love Tenerife and are hoping to come over some time this year (accommodation sorted lol). Take care.

I actually had a thread deleted (the scrapbooking thread) which no way broke terms and conditions and GR have not even been courteous enough to either let me know it was pulled, or why it was pulled. I even sent an e mail to Estelle which has been completely ignored.

This happened Wendy while I was staying in your lovely apartment in May!!!

Funny I only said to OH when I read your piece, how nice and friendly it was that people take the trouble to put things on here, as someone may want a holiday.
I suppose someone thinks it is advertising. Green eyes again?

I read part of the thread, and didn't find it in the least bit offensive or abusive. As Teddys Girl said, a touch of the Green Eye, methinks

Hi all

Tanianz - I have had several pm's from people who have had different messages from GR re pulled threads so I am not 100% convinced that there is only one bog standard response.

Glenys -I couldn't agree with you more, it all comes down to manners.

And Ann...oh Ann I just love your replies - keep em coming lol

Hi Julia and Teddys girl

Thanks for adding to the thread as you say it was meant to be a friendly and reasonable offer - that is if you call LESS than 50.00 euros a WEEK per person reasonable. Now I really must go and sweep the large private terrace of the apartment, that's the one that has extensive sea and mountain views. lol

Don't forget to wipe over the lovely large outside table that sits under the umbrella to keep off the sun. That is if you have moved it back from where we had it when eating our lunch in the two lounger chairs, or having our evening drinks, or, as we did one very clear night, when we took our Amarettos out and sat out looking at the stars, so many of them because there is no pollution. And tidy up the tubs of geraniums on the terrace now that T is no longer there to dead head them!

Hi Ann

So glad you have fond memories. As you know I'm not a sun worshiper, preferring to sit in comfort inside keeping up with friends, family and of course GR via the free WiFi connection provided. But the weather today is so beautiful hot, sunny and clear blue skies that I did just have to take 10 minutes, with a cup of coffee, to look at the stunning views
