My Friend has a Blue Badge & went shopping with her Mum,as usual no Disabled spaces-many not displaying Badges so...........
They parked in a Parent & Child Space.Someone got the Manager & my Friends Mum politely pointed out they were Parent & Child & there was no age limit on the sign & maybe he'd like to be more vigilant over Disabled parking?

You know it's mission with me the same as paying for RADAR keys, talk about discrimination.

The PC I spoke with this morning acknowledged that supermarkets really don't enforce their own rules. Why have any then?

If I see a commercial vehicle parked in a disabled bay to make a delivery I am on the phone to their office.

If none of us are proactive it makes a mockery of equal rights.

Sue,

how can it be equal rights?
I dont have the right to park virtually where I wish........I have to fit in, where I can.........
and as for reporting delivery drivers........come on,
be reasonable, he has a job to do AND is probably on a time basis as well........

Get real Bob, if we go into town and can't park and no OH won't park on double yellows because the street is too narrow, I lose my right to shop!!!

Try it and see, it's not damn funny!

It's "the look" you get...................Not all disabilities are visible & gawd help you if you're young, there is an underlying prejudice against people with "invisible" disabilities & the Government doesnt help with its preposterous ad campaign.

GR also should consider changing "Invalid Thread" to "Void"

Bob...........it's not a request to be treated differently it's the need to try & stay normal & live life as near the same as anyone else.
Disabilities steal your life if you let them.

Good for you SueM....I know parking is a nightmare, its an old market town, built WAY before cars.....! you cannot just leave the car at the side of the road for a minute - cos that gridlocks the whole town....

Of course you have as much right to go shopping as anyone else, and need to be able to park - I can park in any of the car parks and walk to wherever shop I want...shove O in a buggy and its easier again, there is limited parking for disabled, how dare others park there.....and delivery drivers....grrrrrrrrrrr!

I do not have a blue badge - therefore i have NO RIGHT to park in a disabled bay. I have a child under 5 - therefore I can park in the parent and child space in t***** cos thats what their rules say (for what they're worth) but often don't cos O is mobile....!

ok....rant over! xxx

maybe I was misunderstood, Sue used the phrase
" Equal Rights"
I just picked up on that, and No I wouldnt deny you the access that badge holding gives you.

Ihave a theory on that.

You see, the manager of the supermarket, is probably a weasly bloke, who would find it far easier to confront a disabled person for parking in a parent and child space, than to confront an able bodied person for parking in a disabled space. Get the gist?

I complained about a car once - in a parent and child one - when O was still in a carry car seat thingy - to the customer service desk, she parked and walked off whilst I was circling looking for one! They called the car owner - who said she was disabled and there were no disabled spaces. I suggested that the customer service desk went and checked the cars parked in the disabled spaces and call the owners who were not displaying blue badges (btw - the woman hadn't displayed her badge - although she had it with her!) they didn't....!

I have to say Morrisons here is really good. If you complain, security get someone to move their car, and they give a public telling off!
