Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 20:19

He drove his car down to the Three Horseshoes, which is not in fact there.......this self same shop was used as the restaurant in Pie in the Sky.......and down the row is the restaurant where I used to work inthe evenins when the children were babies, as a waitress......

......funny to see it, it looks really quaint.......the sort of place I would like to live......lol....

We had our Hampshire village transformed into St Mary Mead for the Agatha Christie series..

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 20:26

Its funny seeing it on the telly Polly, trouble is I am not following the plot, just looking to see if I can see anything more........oh yes, she is just walking over to the bus, and behind that is the 11th century church where we married.....

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 20:29

.....and that's posh, being on an Agatha Christie Polly.....

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 20:36

Soooooo, nerry a peep of the ash blonde barnet then Polly.......and I always thought that Nether Wallop was a made up name, like in Dads Army.....

I had friends who were on Morse.......they live in Oxford and were walking along......Mum Dad, one daughter and twin daughters.......and they asked them to walk along the pavement, then cross the road.......why, I don't know, but you got a quick glimpse of them......

*Polly* Report 10 Feb 2010 20:39

No,it's real...We had a Wallop Festival one year and lots of famous people came.Michael Horden,Jenny Agutter,Mel Smith,Peter Cook,Wayne Sleep...it was a big thing..The children were in a reenactment of the history of Wallop, alongside the real actors...Still have the photos...

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 20:41

Oh, that's the upmarket bit Lynda....... you can add another nought to house prices there........lol

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 20:43

I often heard the name Nether Wallop Polly, but just thought it was a comical name........but its obviously famous if all those celebs visited it.......I thought it was the site of a WWII airfield in a story I read......

I will have to google it now...... :0))

Bit gory tonight wasn't it?
Did you know that when John Nettles retires at the ends of this series the actor playing his cousin is going to take over.

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 22:04

No Von, I didn't recognise it either, I thought at first it was the Marchmont Armsin Piccotts End which was once the big manor house for the area.......but no.......didn't recognise the church either.....

.....maybe one or two sheep.....lol....

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 22:12

Yes, it was right gory Ann.......I never guessed who did the head chopping, wouldn't have thought she was strong enough to wield that sword....

I had heard that John Nettles was leaving, and I was trying to remember what the actor who played his cousin was in....... I wondered if John Nettles was OK, because he seems to get out of breath just talking.....

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Feb 2010 22:14

I can't remember what he was in but I think he has been in quite a few things, he is a good actor, I think he will be good in the aprt. Yes John Nettles did seem a bit breathless, but I have thought that before. He is 66 so I suppose it is time he stopped running around.

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 22:21

He has gone a bit puce in the face once or twice over time, and he was only talking........I shall miss him in Midsomer, same as the character Bergerac will always be his........ I hope they keep his sidekick Jones in the part, just for a bit of continuity......

Von Report 10 Feb 2010 22:27

Was the church St.Johns on Boxmoor?
Von

Sally

Sally Report 10 Feb 2010 22:33

No, that has gone really modern, had a big facelift.......my Son and DiL got married there nearly 4 years ago, and my Sis and BiL......

It looked to me like the church at Apsley......opposite where the big Sainsburys is.....

Von

Von Report 10 Feb 2010 22:43

I don't think it was Apsley. What's the one in the Old Town?
Sad isn't it I lived in Apsley for nearly 20 yrs and I don't think I went inside any of the churches.
Except the Methodist one when it became Appsley Community Association.
Von
BTW John Nettles taught some of my family before he made it onto TV
