3rd wave has just hit chatham islands measuring half a metre high this means they are expecting it to be about a metre hitting the east coast of nz.
They have evacuated Gisborne and we are now on proper alert in northland
i will keep you posted

yep we are fine keeping an eye on whats happening both coasts we live in the narrowest part of NZ .
Hubby is out at our house on the west coast this morning have friends staying and it is beachfront his parents also live next door so he has gone to round them all up if necessary.
Its more a problem with the water surge than a wave 1 meter with a big tide may well bring water to the front door

We've been told to expect rough seas further north than we are. More a problem for boats and rock fishermen or so they say. Let's hope people heed the warning.

water has just pulled back by 25 metres in gisborne so a wave is coming
Police have just been door to door at the inlaws telling them to be ready to go will keep you posted

ok guys evrything looks good lots of water surges around the country but no big waves apparently this will keep up for the next few hours,some of the harbours are a bit like washing machines and people have taken there boats out as a precaution so they dont get smashed to bits but otherwise ok

Here is the current advice for the East coast of Oz. Hopefully people will heed the warnings and keep a safe distance.
