That made me cry. What a tragic end to such a heroic life, but on the brighter side, what an honour for him to be remembered and loved in the village.

I was totally absorbed in it TW! Did you notice (this wont give much away) that at the end of his stay in Kuala Lumpar he had exchanged his awful black shoes and socks for a lovely red pair? lol Shallow? Moi? BC XX

Don't worry, if you haven't watched it, none of this conversation would make any sense whatsoever.

Yes it was only one relative, but what a story...it needed that hour to tell it with the maximum impact emotionally. I thought it was one of the best episodes I've watched.

I think it helped because he is such a winning personality, and nothing seemed foced...well I have always admired him. BC XX

£4 was a lot of money then - I was earning Two guineas as a jjunior shorthand typist and was well paid. Others earned £1.10s.

Better translate £2.10p. and £1.50p.
