Thanks Ann. I am now off to see if my sis (or her daughter) have got the Judy Picoult boof, (as I know they are fans).

Have read the three that have two votes, and enjoyed them all.

Will definitely read Jodi Piccoult
and will try The Red Queen, if the library has it.

Cheers

Perse, if you can't get the winners read any of the others.

I hope the Red Queen is not going to prove a problem. On Amazon it is a bit confusing as to whether the paperback edition is out yet. There seems to be one edition then another paperback says due April 2011. If it is only in hardback it will be impossible to get from the library as nobody buys hard backs these days, and certainly I wont. I will have to see.

Ann, I rarely buy the books suggested, I order them online from the Kent library site and if Kent doesn't have it (like "Lost" last month) then usually they can bring it in from somewhere else - my copy of "Lost" came to my little town from Milton Keynes. Usually it's 25p to reserve a book and they email you when it's arrived. Books from out of area are £2.00 or £2.50, I think.

I'm sure your library offers the same scheme. Hope this helps.

AnninGlos Report 7 Oct 2010 09:41

Yes it does Helen and I use it but it is 75p to reserve and, even though there are a lot of libraries I can rarely get one by a popular author within the time frame. Also I invariably want to take the book on holiday so need a paperback because of the weight. I will look around and see what I can see as I do want to read it.

75p? Ann, you need to move! x

I hope that people are successful in getting The Red Queen. I believe that the paperback should have been available by now, as it came out earlier this year. (July according to one site) So either there was a problem getting it printed on time, or the first run has sold out and they should now be doing a second run.

Popped in briefy to Birmingham Central Library on Saturday, I had been to a course about researching records nearby, they didn't have Picture Perfect on their shelves, but ordered it for me. By Monday morning I had had an email saying it was now waiting to be collected!

Looking forward to reading both books,
Tess

I bought the hard back copy of the Red Queen in Tesco for £9. According to Amazon the paparback will be out in April.

Hi Ann

I hope you don't mind me butting in, but for those who have a Kindle, the Red Queen is available on Amazon. For those who don't, a free reader for the PC is downloadable.

Google Kindle for PC

The Red Queen is just over £5

The White Queen ( 1st in the Trilogy of 'The Cousins war') is £2-70 to download.

The girl who played with fire is £2- 68

Am I down hearted? Well almost ... went to Central Library today to collect Picture Perfect, which I had reserved, and which they said that they had got for me.

So went into town today ... just to get the book ... and they couldn't find it!

They have reserved it (again). So hope to hear soon that it has arrived (returning from its mystery tour).

Will start to read The Red Queen in the next couple of days.

Note to self ... make a few notes as soon as you have finished the book, instead of leaving it till the review date is near here.

Picture Perfect is also downloadable and costs £2-60.

I am not recommending a Kindle download as opposed to books. I just thought that if one is unable to get hold of a book on the list that it may be an idea to download the Free kindle for PC and download the book needed.
