Hi Ann, I don't know if it was good or not as I didn't watch it!

Just wanted to bring it to the attention of the other Greaders in the UK.

Will have to ask around (friends and family) to see if anyone else watched it.

Just seen this. I was away so didn't watch it, was it good?

Review in a weeks time.

Just a little note to people in the UK

"The Little House" which was a book we read a few months ago, has now been dramatised.
It is being shown in two parts, the first is tomorrow evening at 9.pm on ITV 1

Beware though, according to the Radio Times they will we showing a trailer at the end of part one, which gives the game away, so spoils part two.

Just need patience then Helen. That is why I decided to buy it, reservations of new books are horrendous.

Well I've read (and reviewed) Picture Perfect but no sign of the Red Queen yet. So I went into the library today (to return Picture Perfect) and asked about my reservation----- to be told that I am 97th on a list of 156!!! The librarian said that there are lots of copies so it won't take as long as you might think.... :(((

I know what you mean Tess, I am reading Red Queen as well.

Went to Central Library on Saturday and got Pic. Per.

So now have both books.
Am reading Red Queen at the moment, keep wanting to cross ref. with White Queen, to compare what each was doing at certain times (but far too lazy!).

Ann, I waited around for a while, so that they could search all the shelves (in the back office) were the reserved books are kept.
Two of the assistants claim that they did a thorough search.

I probably will phone first though, just to be on the safe side,

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Oct 2010 21:27

Maybe you should phone them to make sure before you go. I bet the first assistant didn't look in the right place and it was there all the time.

Had another email from the library today. Picture Perfect is back from its wandering and is ready for me to collect.!!!!

If I am okay tomorrow, I will try again.

Keep your fingers crossed for me please, that I don't have another wasted journey.

Thanks Susan with numbers. I will (try to ) remember this if there is ever a book I just can't get.

Picture Perfect is also downloadable and costs £2-60.

I am not recommending a Kindle download as opposed to books. I just thought that if one is unable to get hold of a book on the list that it may be an idea to download the Free kindle for PC and download the book needed.

Am I down hearted? Well almost ... went to Central Library today to collect Picture Perfect, which I had reserved, and which they said that they had got for me.

So went into town today ... just to get the book ... and they couldn't find it!

They have reserved it (again). So hope to hear soon that it has arrived (returning from its mystery tour).

Will start to read The Red Queen in the next couple of days.

Note to self ... make a few notes as soon as you have finished the book, instead of leaving it till the review date is near here.

Hi Ann

I hope you don't mind me butting in, but for those who have a Kindle, the Red Queen is available on Amazon. For those who don't, a free reader for the PC is downloadable.

Google Kindle for PC

The Red Queen is just over £5

The White Queen ( 1st in the Trilogy of 'The Cousins war') is £2-70 to download.

The girl who played with fire is £2- 68

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Oct 2010 22:39

I bought the hard back copy of the Red Queen in Tesco for £9. According to Amazon the paparback will be out in April.

I hope that people are successful in getting The Red Queen. I believe that the paperback should have been available by now, as it came out earlier this year. (July according to one site) So either there was a problem getting it printed on time, or the first run has sold out and they should now be doing a second run.

Popped in briefy to Birmingham Central Library on Saturday, I had been to a course about researching records nearby, they didn't have Picture Perfect on their shelves, but ordered it for me. By Monday morning I had had an email saying it was now waiting to be collected!

Looking forward to reading both books,
Tess

75p? Ann, you need to move! x

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Oct 2010 09:41

Yes it does Helen and I use it but it is 75p to reserve and, even though there are a lot of libraries I can rarely get one by a popular author within the time frame. Also I invariably want to take the book on holiday so need a paperback because of the weight. I will look around and see what I can see as I do want to read it.
