Lucky so and so's.
I'm waiting for a new kitchen which should only be another week or so and a new range which could be up to six weeks yet. The family have gone off to NZ to the sunshine and left me to it : (

Thistledown Report 7 Dec 2010 17:37

Hi,
Where i worked they had all steel presses and tops and wall coverings,
always washed them down and then put baby oil on.
It stops grease sticking to steel also, and gives a nice shine.
Make sure to rub with the grain though not against.
Lily.

While we're talking kitchens, our integrated fridge gave up the ghost recently after 11 years. We had it replaced this week, but decided we wouldn't pay H*tpoint the £105 they charge for attaching the door to the fridge. This morning we did it ourselves - took us over 2 hours and caused a certain amount of marital disharmony, but we're £105 better off! Now we don't know whether to take out the 5-year guarantee for parts and labour; if we don't it's bound to go wrong, if we do, it'll probably break down year 6!

2 days ago the fridge/freezer in the garage packed up. Always happens round Christmas - last year the cooker broke down on Christmas day! The Christmas gremlins are around again. I'm talking nicely to my washing machine!

Great tip about baby oil for stainless steel, btw - I'm going to try that. WW x

Wend Report 11 Dec 2010 18:33

That's interesting, FrostyTSK. The old man said he'd looked up f/freezers on the internet and saw that very thing. Fridge/freezers in garages, etc. need 2 thermostats. Perhaps it's not dead after all, just hibernating lol! Thanks for that - we were going to get rid of it.

Not sure about our household insurance cover, WackySS. I'll get the old man to check when he gets back from the pub - he's gone for a couple of pints as he worked so hard this morning lol! x
