Desperately trying to find the birth record of my great grandfather so I can go back further into the Hill family tree. We think he was born in Harrow, however cannot find any birth records for this. He was married to Kate Kimpton and had 4 children, however one child died having her appendixs out at a young age. If anyone has any information which may help me, please contact me. Many thanks

This is their marriage from Freebmd, getting the certificate will give you fathers names to help search census... however if you ask for a London marriage look up on records, the marriage details may be there without you having to buy cert

As above although i can't view the record there is a kate kimpton marriage on London records.

Not on Ancestry I am afraid.

Looks like the marriage is in the registers held by the Westminster Archives and therefore have not been filmed by Ancestry.

Many thanks for that. Brian is married to my father's cousin (his only surviving relative) and Tracy, I met up with on her on this website, as she's related to one of Kate Kimpton's brothers. :-) Kate was born in Leavesden, Herts.

There are a few Kate's on the Kimpton side. They tended to use the same names.

RamblingRose - Thank you, that is the right one :-) I have Frederick's marriage certificate and his death certificate, just can't find his birth certificate. He died 10.07.29 in Devizes.

My only source of information is an 81yr old man (my Dad) who's memory's not as good as it was before his stroke. He said his Dad told him that Frederick came from Harrow, but the only birth certicates around that area are Hatch End and Pinner, both ended in brick walls. It would help if my dad could remember if Frederick had any brothers or sisters! It's very hard. Frederick was around 51yrs old when he died.

As there is no record of the marriage of Frederick and Kate on Ancestry, it seems that your only option is to obtain their marriage cert for the name and occupation of his father which might help to track him down on the census''s.

Who was Frederick's father and what was his occupation? This should be on his marriage cert.

Have posted these, bearing in mind Frederick was a Coachman on the 1911 census, as was his father before him ?

Unfortunately only the marriage certificate will confirm father's name and occupation.

After searching possible dates, I've managed to find their marriage certificate and have ordered a copy. They were married in 1904 Oct-Dec St George Hanover Square London.

Hopefully that will give us Frederick's father's name! Can't believe how far we're getting in a day! I've been searching years! Wouldn't have been able to do this without all your help. Thank you so much!
