I not a great fan of anything on tv....... rather watch grass grow.

DH has been a Dr fan forever......... he's even got the Tardis noise as his mobile 'phone ring.

:-)

I have watched nearly all of them - was a bit too young to remember the William Harnell ones & Patrick Troughton ones - but have seen some on repeats

I loved Jon Pertwee & Paul McGann - the shows were really good

David Tennant - I think he is my favourite so far
Peter Davidson & Matt Smith were a lot better

However I liked some of the stories Chris Eccelstone had but not him

I prefer the creepy stories like the Weeping Angels and the ghostly children as well as the girl behind the fireplace - that's haunting i love it my favorite one

At the moment not that keen on Peter Capaldi or the stories in the new series

Also ones like Crack in Time & next doctor and when he had Amy Pond

I think out of the lot its got to be River song who steals the show

OH remembers all you have mentioned Tabitha.

He also liked Peter Cushing as Dr Who but that was in the film.

I've never watched it but I remember in the '70s when my young son started to watch it. It scared him witless but he would not have it turned off. One day he watched it on the telly in the lounge while holding on to the kitchen door so he could see me cooking at the same time. He loved it.

Kids just love to be a bit scared, I think. I can remember the same feeling when I was a child - frightened but fascinated.

I'm like Tabitha except I love Peter Capaldi in anything :-)

(and I never really watched the oldies, just the various new series)

but this series, and the last couple before in fact, has lost its way when it comes to actual stories ... and places, and people ...

all suspense suspense suspense and the same thing happening over and over and nothing happening ...

Peter Capaldi rocks, quite literally!! :-) :-D :-)

I thought Jodie Whittaker was very good, brilliant even, as the new Doctor Who.

Thought the story line was a bit lame. Willing to give Jodie Whittaker a chance, but really hate her chosen outfit. Its a cross between a Bovver Boy's and a Clown.

I used to watch it years ago, but would lose interest in it as it went on, so I stopped watching it. I did like David Tennant in the role though.

We watched it last night out of curiosity because of all the hype about Jodie Whittaker.
I have to say, I though SHE was brilliant! :-D
The storyline was a bit lame but perhaps it'll build

I have not watched Dr Who since I was a child doing the usual hiding behind the settee. But I was curious about this new female Dr Who. I thought she was brilliant. I will watch the next programme and see if I am hooked. It was a great first episode.

Any thoughts on the 2nd episode

My comments - I liked the look of the new TARDIS and the Theme music (more of the theme tune this week)

AnninGlos Report 15 Oct 2018 13:22

We don't watch it, I think they hope to have captured a larger audience by strategic placing in the programme listing. I actually like Jodie Whittaker, she is a good actress but it is just not for us, especially not for my OH.

Don't watch Dr Who, lord of the rings & Harry Potter, all a load of brainless rubbish.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Oct 2018 16:56

Why did all the actors have northern accents? :-S
Still feel the characters need bedding-in, but at least they have the Tardis back.
We'll probably continue to watch in the hope the story-lines continue to improve. So far, admittedly this was only the 2nd episode, they've been a bit lame.

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 15 Oct 2018 19:30

I quite enjoyed it.

I wasn't that keen on the new arrangement of the theme tune, sorry Tabitha :-D
I felt it lacked it's usual ooooomph :-D :-D :-D

Kense

Kense Report 16 Oct 2018 07:57

For me, the most unbelievable bit was when they were able to outrun a crashing spaceship. Still I do like the characters but miss the intricacies of the Moff's plots.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 16 Oct 2018 13:05

Agree only 2nd episode - but the Story was rubbish and the acting not much better.

1st episode was so much better.

I dont like the new script writer so far -

Happy with the Theme tune but preferred the instrumental one about 20 years ago.

Will still watch for a few more shows - my favorite is Bradley Walsh - main reason i gave it a go as got fed up with previous Dr not having any gumption or get up an go.

Chris in Sussex

Chris in Sussex Report 16 Oct 2018 20:54

Happy to admit.....I love it :-D

OH and I watched Dr Who until the demise of David Tennant (mind you that could have been due to me ;-) )

We gave it a go again this series and we are both hooked!

Must admit to a personal secret 'thing' about Bradley Walsh .....But I don't think the OH feels the same :-D
