Knew I had something to do yesterday,
better late than never :-D

I also enjoyed this episode and found it very interesting,
his grandma was lovely.

He did appear to be more relaxed at home and seemed to
enjoy the experience finding out about his relatives.

I loved Craig's journey and loved too his closeness to his family, especially his Grandmother, altho it's a shame he has seen so little of her recently. She looks remarkable for 100 but he should spend more time with her while he can.

I decided to watch this before I went to bed and I much enjoyed it.

Clog dancer eh! I thought the researchers would find a hoofer somewhere in his family if only to see CRH's face light up. :-D

I too found this episode very interesting. My Gt Gt Grandfather went out to Ballarat, Australia for the Gold Rush so I found it especially interesting; sadly my GGG never made his fortune but I know he did find gold as he had a tie pin made up of some of the natural gold nuggets that he found :-)

Claire Balding on tonight

Reminder for everyone

'Emma' Report 20 Jul 2017 14:01

Thank you Tabitha.

Not a favourite of mine but the interest for me is finding out
about their ancestors.

Have enjoyed the new series so far. But still often find that we are left with many unanswered questions.
Probably partly due to time constraints, but also possibly info. that they don't want to share. Or other people connected to the story don't want their persinal history to be public knowledge. Or perhaps the "missing" info. is just plain boring.

Will be watching Claire B. tonight. For some reason, when I see her on t.v. I am reminded of the Durrell family.

Not the best I've seen over all series, was bored and did she say
she had never heard of Royal Baking Powder!!!!

I didn't enjoy this one so much really either. Rather disappointing :-(

I think you are all mirroring my husband - he got bored by it too.

I was fascinated as didn't really know anything about her. I enjoyed both sides of her family line and loved the American story.

Never heard of the one next week -

Advil Ray an actor who plays Citizen Kahn.

I think if your hobby is genealogy, then you are usually interested in other peoples' family history too. I certainly am.

I've seen the preview for Adil Ray's story in the TV guide, it looks really interesting and surprising.

I thought that Clare's father was rather non-committal about his mother.. In fact I don't recall him saying anything about her, except that he didn't know anything about that side of the family.

I wonder what happened there then?!? Perhaps she had no part in his upbringing, another bag of mysteries. I want to know more.......

Will have to Google Royal Baking Powder, just because I want to know more.

Dont forget its on tonight

Adil Ray

Never heard of him before this - his show is not the kind of comedy I would watch

Looking forward to tonight's show to find out what sort of person he is.

I found it fascinating. Imagine tracing your ancestors back to an African chief. Isn't that what WDYTYA does? Traces ancestors, and very interesting they were as well.

Very sad about the children being taken from their mother. But his "cousins" were lovely.

I'm always full of admiration of those forced out of their homes who make good in a new country. His family did it twice.

Lovely man.

Rambling Report 28 Jul 2017 11:24

I'd seen him before on a couple of programmes as himself, rather than as Citizen Khan, and he seemed like a very nice young man :-D

I found it interesting :-)

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 28 Jul 2017 11:27

I found it interesting but thought they were
never going to get started in the search for
his ancestors.

I then realised that his search would be more
in finding living members of his family ie cousins
to help him as genealogists were not in abundance
to help him.

Well I'm ashamed to say that I fell asleep! :-0
Mind you, I was very tired! :-D

I have it on record, so I will watch it again, because we enjoy Citizen Khan :-)
I did wake up just before the end when he discovered his African Chief connections lol! :-D :-D :-D

Von Report 28 Jul 2017 13:24

I agree Guinevere. :-D I thought it was really interesting.

I have friends who came here from Uganda mainly with Indian parents so it's good to have a better understanding of events that caused them to emigrate to start a new life.

He was lucky to have so many photographs.
