We did have a nice day out yesterday even in the heat.
Today is even hotter, it is 27 degrees at lunchtime, so will be even hotter this afternoon. I went to the supermarket this morning, but managed to forget my phone which had the shopping list on it :-( I did well in remember what I needed to get, but a few of the things I forget are needed for this week’s recipes, so I will pop to Aldi this afternoon after I I finish the school reading.

I hope everyone is keeping as cool as possible

Much cooler this morning thankfully. I managed to sleep last night as it was a little cooler upstairs and with the fan on it wasn't too bad.

We had a very nice salad for tea all except tomatoes were home grown . The cabbage and carrots are coming on nicely as well. I hope your caulies are still ok Florence we never had success with them so didn't try this year.

I've given the J Vine puzzle show
a go and it's ok but he does irritate me so much . My daughter said it is a re-jig of a show that used to be on with members of the public forming the teams now it is celebrities that are on. I record it and watch if nothing else to do.

Have a nice day all.

It was much cooler yesterday. We seem to have had a lot of rain overnight which is great because we have planted the whole garden with perennials. We are expecting a hosepipe ban imminently because of the drought which has been declared. It hope all the new plants will survive.
We were intending to walk by the river to the nearby retail park as our prescriptions need collecting, but it is heavy drizzle, so we will have to take the car. There is a very nice cafe in one of the posh furniture shops, so naturally we will have lunch there while we are out :-D.

Morning all looking in.

Well was about to go out into the garden to dehead some of the flowers when i looked up only to see a shower on the window grrrr!

So hope it passes as this was not the forecast here. Should be sunshine and 15 degrees so will wait a little while and see if it passes.

My little babies are growing by the day. Hard to believe how quick they are growing.
By the time we come back from holiday, they may well be ready to harvest and eat.

Busy couple of days dealing with various things, vets tomorrow. Poochie has improved with her eye so much, she is virtually fully recovered. A different situation to what we were dealing with a few weeks ago.

Hope Joan you are ok and have able to get out in your garden?

5 sleeps to go til we get on that plane :-D :-D :-D

have a good day all.

Linda, enjoy your posh lunch :-D

How are your babies Florence?

It is windy here, but still about 20 degrees. I went to the last school bakery for the year this morning. Next Friday is the school summer fayre anc the following week will bd the last day of term.
I managed to get some more gardening done this afternoon, I moved some plants which had been in tubs into the main garden and finished the pricking out in the greenhouse. I seem to have a huge amount if dill which I don’t really use.

Tomorrow I am taking Esme to Lightwater Valley again. They have a Taylor Swift tribute act in tomorrow. She is doing three shows during the day and as Esme is a “ “Swifty”, we will be watching all of them. She knows the words to all the songs and has the hat and tee shirts. I am happy to watch the shows as it means we don’t have to go on the rides.

Have a lovely holiday Florence

Esme had a lovely day yesterday at Lightwater Valley. We watched the Taylor Swift tribute act three times. The girl did the same set each time, but Esme didn’t mind.

It has been very humid here , but we didn’t get any rain until about an hour ago. There was a good downpour, so that will be good for the garden. I hope the rain barrels fill up a bit as there isn’t much water left in them

JustGinnie

JustGinnie Report 7 Jul 2025 13:56

We had some rain last night but not enough really but better than none at all. Still warm today though but cloudy .
The council men have been out trimming the bushes and overhanging branches but the grassy area does not need mowing.

Yesterday I decided to clean out my Keter shed as it had become very untidy. It is where I keep my extra household things that I have no room for in the kitchen . I do a bulk buy every so often of cleaning stuff and binbags etc and it goes in there . Also it houses the garden bits and bobs. My OH goes in to get stuff but never puts it back in the same place so hence it becomes like his shed. ( messy place.) Today I started on my cupboard that is home to my vacuum and brooms etc took the lot out and found a box with extra parts to a vac I had ages ago and a bag with dusters in . So that is now sorted out and tidy again.
:-D :-D

Now having a cuppa and some time on the laptop.

Hope everyone is having a good day and you are enjoying your holiday Florence.

I do like things to be tidy Ginnie. My son who is living with us at the moment just dumps things and that annoys me.
I went to the supermarket this morning, then have been to the local school for reading this afternoon.
For once when my daughter rang and said “ mum are you busy? “ I had to turn her down, but OH stepped up instead. Esme is having one of her days when her tummy is hurting again, so she has been in hospital all day. She now has a fast track to the children’s ward. Her father spent the morning with her, then my daughter took over this afternoon. She needed OH to take her and to sit with Esme while she had an important on line meeting. They are going to do an MRI scan, but probably not until tomorrow. She isn’t eating or drinking, if she starts drinking, she can go home overnight. If she won’t drink, she will have to go on a drip. Unfortunately, she likes being in hospital, while my daughter obviously would prefer to be at home, so we will have to see what happens.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 8 Jul 2025 11:49

Well, the hosepipe ban has been declared from Friday, so I will be lugging watering cans around. Apparently if you have a blue badge you are exempt, but I don’t so am not .
Esme came home last night, but they had TK be back at the hospital for 8 am. She wasn’t allowed to eat anything and the scan wasn’t until ten, so she was grumpy about that. They gave her some medication to put her to sleep, but it didn’t work, she was just a bit drowsy. Anyway she was very good and stayed still, she had headphones on and the man was talking to her through them. She was totally unfazed by the whole thing. Her mum was allowed to be in the room with her. As soon as she got back to the ward, she FaceTimed me to tell me all about it. She was tucking into a large bowl of cornflakes and saying that she was starving. They will be bringing dinner round soon, so she was pleased about that.

I hope Florence is having a nice time, it looks as if the weather is going to be very good.

Phew it is hot, I hope everyone is keeping cool
Yesterday, I had a nice day out with Eve, we went to some gardens and had a long walk through the deer park.
This afternoon is Esme’s school summer fayre, which we are going to. It is only for an hour, so shouldn’t be too bad.
I have just booked a weeks holiday at Centre Parcs in the Lake District for a week in August, so it is bound to be cold and rainy that week. The whole family including our son are going. He has never been before, so doesn’t know what to expect :-D

It is hot and sticky here too. 32 degrees.

I have never been to a Centre Parc. I didn't know there was one in the Lake district. It will be a nice break for you all together.
