Well despite the cold we managed to make it to the craft show. Very good as usual although not as many card making stalls there as usual and more needlecraft (embroidery, kneedlework, quilting and knitting). I managed to spend about £30 anyway. Didn't stay as long as usual though, this cold has wiped me out and I just couldn't go on any longer than 2 hours. didn't sleep much last night as every time I laid down I started coughing and/or sneezing so spent most of the night sitting up in the spare bed.

Bought a tattered lace heart die, some roaring twenties toppers a pack of ten square cards. a pack of A6 see through envelopes. 3 stickles, a reel of double sided tape, a white pen 2 pack x8 A4 shimmer card, one cream and one purple. some pretty mauve and goldy colour round rhinestone stick ons and a pack of Sweet Pea Nesting messages.

Well didnt you do well Ann,it seems you had a really good buy, I would have loved to go to a craft fair but alas I cant walk for long and standing is a no-no for any length of time...I used to go years ago, but they didnt sell a great choice of craft stuff for cardmaking....I managed to make 9 cards this afternoon, using up a lot of card blanks I had from before I sold off my stuff... I will take pics of them tomorrow and send them
on to you when they get put on.....
You need a few hot toddys to help you sleep , or just enjoy them :-D :-D :-D :-D
Hope you soon feel better...

Sorry to hear that you are still not well Ann. I do hope you feel better soon.
You will be busy "playing" with your new purchases.
I'm going to the Spring Knit and Stitch show at Olympia in March so I guess I'd better safe the pennies :-) :-) :-)
Take care

Where are all the crafters gone, :-( :-( what have you all been up to,? there is a variety of skills on here so do share them with us all. it always encourages new folk who may like to tell us what crafts they are doing or even thinking of starting ;-) ;-)
my card making is now a lot less than I used to do but , I am sure it will never stop altogether, still keeps my mind active , lessens stress levels, even if the old body is slowing down ;-) ;-) I love it :-D :-D :-D :-D but best of all is sharing our ideas and tips.

so lets hear it for all crafters :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I'm still here and making cards regularly for my blog challenge groups and my card and Papercraft Group here in Cyprus. I enjoy altered art and have recently been challenged to alter board shapes such as letters. Teapots, cupcakes, jar shapes etc for an online group to swap with others. Maybe we could start a swap group of some sort. What do you think?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2014 16:44

The postage and time might prove to be prohibitive but it could maybe work by photographing projects do you think?

Sounds like a good plan to me. :-D :-D :-D

I must admit that I don't look at the thread as often as I did now it is on a separate board :-( :-(
I don't see the point as it might as well of stayed on chat. :-S :-S :-S
Take care

I think it was to ease the 'congestion' of the long running threads on chat, clogging up the board Von but that was before lots of people left. I do actually always check both boards

Today I've been to the Spring Knitting and Stitching show at Olympia.

It's not as big as the one at Alexandra Palace but interesting nevertheless.

Ah Memories Von, some 50 0dd years ago when I worked for the S****r sewing company I used to demonstrate at big exhibitions it was a tiring time, but I also did demos on knitting machines , very early days and unpredictable knitting machines, I recall knitting along and then all the stitches dropped off the machine so a bright spark in the audience said why did it do that, I managed to bluff my way through by saying I had done it on pupose so I could show you all how easy it is to put them back on ;-) ;-) ;-) bit of a nail biting time....lol....I also taught dressmaking with the same company.....£12 for six lessons, that was fun too....
did you get anything? what project are doing now.? or am I being nosey ;-) ;-)

Going by the numbe of knitting and sewing stalls at the Malvern craft show I bet it was crowded Von. Knitting and sewing has certainly tsken off these days.

Jean in the new shopping outlet in Gloucester Quays one of the shops (whose name I fotget because I didn't recognise it), has rows and rows of old sewing machines, singer and others, lining across their windows. Fascinating.

I used to have a knitting machine when the children were young in the 70s, used to knit children's clothes to order, mine was a Jones machine.

Snap I used to crochet children's and adults clothes to order in the 60's.....no machine to crochet sadly. Don't do any crocheting now but still popular in Cyprus with the Yayas.....Grannies

Interesting that so many of us had knitting machines. In fact mine is still up just in case I get the great urge to knit.
I was really disappointed in the stand yesterday that was promoting the guild. They always have a few knitted garments that are not very inspirational given the potential that knitting machines have for really creative work.
I've knitted with wire on mine.Made large pieces of felt not to mention all the various garments.
In answer to your question Jean. Of course you're not being nosey.
I was very restrained and only bought a small alphabet stencil and some small bottles with fine nozzles.
At the moment I'm working towards an exhibition with my art group. Our theme is a book that has inspired our work.
Mine is "on Angel Mountain" by Brian John.
Our local library has been refurbished and they have an area where they exhibit art works. Ours will be the opening exhibition and the books will be displayed beside the art work.
Take care
Von
