Wanted to know if anybody knows or knew a Elsie Lewis who lived in east ham, she had a brother called Harry, Joseph and Ida. Joseph had 3 children called hazel, Joseph and Teresa, Ida had no children neither did Elsie or Harry. Joseph, Ida and Harry have all died but I wanted to know if Elsie was still alive. I am Joseph's grandaughter.

Jennifer Report 10 Nov 2012 16:08

I don't know what year Elsie was born, maybe around 1920 ish, my grandad Joseph Elsie's brother died over 40 years ago so I never had the chance of meeting him. I'm very new to all this so I apologise to the kind people trying to help me.

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 10 Nov 2012 16:09

Elsie never married so Lewis would be her name, sorry to confuse you.

Ok none of this is a problem but a neame these days is never enough as there are so many people in the country with the same name

So Elsie was born elsie lewis in west ham 1920s is that right

I really appreciate you looking for me, I only joined today so not quite sure what I'm doing. My mum sadly passed away 3 years ago so I'm just going on memory on what she told me. I believe that Harry, Ida and dolly have all died, but not sure about Elsie. I'm told that dolly was the only sibling to have had children.

That's my grandad, can you find information about his brother and sisters, Thankyou so much

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 10 Nov 2012 16:52

No info at the mo

right you need to stop and start again Joseph was born in 1913 NOE in 1912 they started to put mothers maiden names on the birth registration so it shows as above BUT before that no MMN was give so where it says CRIPPS it was blank so its possible that the brothers and sister are born pre 1912

Now the best thing to do is get this certificate from GRO its the birth certificate for your grandad unless you know is fathers name??????????

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 10 Nov 2012 16:56

I don't know his fathers name, it could have been Joseph, the reason I say that is he named my uncle Joseph so maybe they used the Joseph through with the sons.
