I never said that I wasn't gonna get certificates

Never knew that people had to be a certain age to be a couple !!!!

And I have never meet my nan !!!!
Or my grandad for that matter as never knew my grandad was a round

Like when I send message to other tree users I am not to know they are 10 years old

So there we have it !!! :-(

Lisa, I know where Jax is coming from, it's just your grandmother did not appear to have any siblings with the same mothers maiden name. Don't go rushing into buying multiple certificates, just get her birth certificate for starters - now we know from her death record she was born in 1922. Then we can look for her parents once we know their names for sure.

There is no recorded marriage for Mussett/Lankston as has already been pointed out, so either her mother had been previously married, or it has been recorded wrongly. I even tried to look for Alfred Richard Mussett's mmn - but it turned out to be Coulthard - just in case he misheard the registrar and gave his mmn by mistake.

So your saying get birth certificate on ivy mussett
And see what comes back,
Why would my dad lie about an auntie violet
They were always together

Flip

Flip Report 20 Apr 2014 14:35

I'm not trying to say he would lie - it's just there is no Violet born with the same mother's maiden name as your gran (and there is quite an age difference as Violet married in 1933 but your gran born in 1922) - that's why you need your grans birth certificate to see who her parents were so you can be sure of her ancestry.

Ok will come back when I have ordered one and then share information ok xx

jax Report 20 Apr 2014 14:52

I was not saying there could not have been a 16 year age difference, but the likely hood of her still having children at 55 would be very slim.

Have you looked for any births on Freebmd? and even her death was listed on there....maybe it was not there in November though.

You had said when your grandmother died, so I would have thought anyone trying to help would have least looked up that death to see when she was born?

This is the marriage of Violet to Harry:
Marriages Dec 1933
Mussett Violet Shaw Sheppey 2a 2747
Shaw Harry C Mussett Sheppey 2a 2747

so I thought this was Violet's birth:
Births Jun 1914
MUSSETT Violet Moore Sheppey 2a 1985

Which gets us back to what Shirley posted.

These are the ones I was looking at so how comes if they are not mussett
When my father is very sure of the violet and Harry

jax Report 20 Apr 2014 16:04

If this Violet turns out to be your grandmothers sister she married a Henry which also could be known as Harry

Births Sep 1913 (>99%)

MUSSETT Violet L King Hackney 1b 1011

Marriages Sep 1934 (>99%)

Hill Henry R Mussett Hackney 1b 1260
Mussett Violet L Hill Hackney 1b 1260

Also the marriage of Violets parents

Marriages Mar 1911 (>99%)

King Charlotte R W.Ham 4a 356
Mussett Alfred R W.Ham 4a 356

charlottes death

Deaths Mar 1934 (>99%)

Mussett Charlotte R 43 Hackney 1b 624

which actually ties in with this birth

Births Dec 1891 (>99%)

LANKSTON Charlotte Rosina Hackney 1b 514

or maybe this one if she lied about her age?

Births Jun 1889 (>99%)

Lankston Charlotte Rose Hackney 1b 518

But until you get Ivy's birth cert it is all guess work

patchem

patchem Report 20 Apr 2014 16:06

If they are sisters why was Violet born in Sheppey and Ivy in Hackney?

So something is not correct, so we wait for certificates.

Have we got deaths for Ivy's parents?

Pat

I don't think the Sheppey connection is anything to do with this family...they were from East London

Sorry, jax.

I agree.

Sheppey is a red-herring.

It is raining and I am messing around.

Alfreds death

Deaths Mar 1942 (>99%)

Mussett Alfred R 53 Hackney 1b 501

so it looks like charlotte R King was Charlotte Rose Lankston born 1889

Why King when she married???

jax

jax Report 20 Apr 2014 16:33

Some more children of Alfred and Charlotte

Births Sep 1911 (>99%)

MUSSETT Winnie E King W.Ham 4a 779 Scan available - click to view

Mussett Alfred R King Hackney 1b 813 Scan available - click to view

Births Mar 1918 (>99%)

I now think this is the correct family but still wondering why she called herself King for the marriage and for all of the children except Ivy?

patchem

patchem Report 20 Apr 2014 16:33

Cannot see Charlotte Lankston in censuses?

jax

jax Report 20 Apr 2014 16:40

There are two Charlotte Lankston's births but only one marriage and that was for the 1891 birth to a Saville

So the 1889 Charlotte went by the name of King when she married in 1911
