I am trying to find records first

jax Report 19 Apr 2014 17:57

What records are you trying to find Lisa?

His birth will be on scotlandspeople which is pay to view...but as you don't know when he was born there could be dozens with that name

JoonieCloonie Report 19 Apr 2014 18:57

I suggested the marriage certificate for what seems to be the 2nd marriage of that Christopher's 1st wife

to be sure it was the same person (i.e. that the woman who married was the same person as had married a Christopher previously) (which would still not show whether it was the same Christopher of course)

that isn't a matter of 'finding' though ... it's a matter of ordering :-)

I will need to start ordering !!! X

JoonieCloonie Report 20 Apr 2014 20:53

actually I should have said I mainly recommended getting the marriage certificate for CA Robertson in Hackney as well to see what that CAR's occupation was

I'm just naturally suspicious of the occupation 'chef' (unless he was known to be a chef while your mother was living with him)

it's just that an ancestor of mine called his father a chef when he married in the late 1800s and it was a total fabrication :-)

and we're looking at another one on the board just now where the person called his father a chef when he married in 1930 and there is nothing anywhere to suggest such a person existed ...

ArgyllGran Report 19 Aug 2014 17:16

There were seven Christopher Robertsons born in Midlothian 1940-60 - six in Edinburgh and one just outside.

One is just Christopher with no middle name, the others all have middle names, but not Alexander.

thank you so much argyllgran i will have another look, xx

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 20 Aug 2014 15:18

Lisa have you done any of the things suggested at all ??

there is nothing much else at scotlandspeople to 'have another look' at ... the search results will show no useful details and the birth certificates have to be ordered and paid for and cannot be read on line ...

if you had purchased the 1970 marriage certificate I suggested 4 months ago, you would have known long ago whether that was likely your CR for the price of a few pounds

Think I will be deleting my details from here and my accounts
It's not worth the way you get spoken (wrote) to

jax Report 20 Aug 2014 17:06

That's your choice Lisa

But an acknowledgement from you that you had done what was suggested, rather than start a new thread would have been good

Rambling Report 20 Aug 2014 17:15

Lisa, people are trying to help ( on all your various queries, however sparse the info you have given) but no one can do that unless you follow advice.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 20 Aug 2014 22:31

Lisa would you like to share how you know this? --

'I now know the whole family was born in Edinburgh'

If you are getting information from someone, it is information we do not know and we do not know how reliable it is

doing searches based on you saying 'I now know' ... that could be wasting time if what you have been told is not reliable

as far as deleting your account, it seems rather pointless to delete something you have paid for before your time expires :-)

also as has been pointed out your post will always be here if you don't delete it, and someone who does an internet search anytime in future will be able to contact you, as long as you keep your email address current in your account ... and also click 'Watch This' up at the top so you get email notification of any replies in the thread, if you have not done that

JoonieCloonie Report 13 Aug 2015 18:51

yeah well good luck

I see my efforts were pointless I guess.

I have no idea why all these many months later you would not have got the marriage certificate I suggested, at the very least, if you still have not done that.

... or written to the address I gave you which is still current on the electoral roll (and the telephone number is still current in the directory at BT on line so I don't know what the problem with that was ...)
