Neil
I hear your hurt BUT you arent responsible for your brothers adoption,or for the actions that your parents had to take at the time

Those days were so different to having a child out of wedlock . I know we had neighbours in the 1950,s whose daughter got caught and the gossip was awful for the family .

Most times the daughter was shipped off to a relative out of the area or to a mother and baby home to have their little one . IF the mum was under 21 then her parents made the decisions about whether the baby was kept or not . Most times the girl went away before she "showed" and came back later as if she had been working away

Woolwich is my own area . I lived in Charlton and the gossip if a girl was pregnant wasnt very flattering

Neil that line of Fairthorn's is not in response to you, it is just part of the 'researching' box...you will see under my posts
"Researching:
Fishlock, and the lost Harriet Louisa Whetman. These are my research interests and do not constitute part of any reply I may post on your thread :-) "

some of us regulars put names we are researching, some of us put maybe an amusing remark like Fairthorn's "I am not a complete idiot...some parts are missing"... :-)

I changed mine Fairthorn, I'd added a throwaway remark and it was taken the wrong way :-)
