Dee, my only concern is that both the brides on that page were called Elizabeth - could this be Elizabeth nee Morrison?

Margaret - this is why we need you to confirm who she married.

Added: - aha! You're doing well there with those children! (Lunch break over, got to go)

Have sent Margaret a PM asking her to come back (and explaining how) so she can review what we've found and also answer our queries.

Yes thanks, this above is correct and I have a fair bit of info on the family of Elizabeth Jarvis, once she is married to James Rowntree. It's her family, parents & place of birth where it's been difficult to get info.

Margaret

Margaret Report 28 Oct 2010 22:58

Elizabeth Ann Jarvis married James Rowntree,& had 6 children, (Mary Elizabeth, the eldest, was my grandmother).
She then married John Larmour in 1920. Her first husband was missing, presumed dead in WW1. His fate was only discovered in 2007.
Eliz. Ann told me she learned to tell the time from the clock on St. Nicholas' Cathedral, and lived near the quayside, so this was the only clue I had as to where she may have lived as a child. There may have also been a sister called Janet.
Thanks.

Hello Margaret, I agree that some of the census info was pretty much stab in the dark stuff, but the things that are concrete are her baptism record and her marriage.

There has obviously been some confusion about her father's name. Originally you believed it was possibly Joseph Francis but the baptism record, which has the exact dates you mentioned gives her father's name as John.

The thing that we are all agreed on is her marriage to James Rowntree.

If you haven't already got it, then getting a copy of her marriage certificate will confirm once and for all her father's name & occupation then we can accurately find her past family records. It will also give an address at time of marriage which could be useful.

When I drive past St Nicholas on my way to work tomorrow I'll think of her!

Thanks for the help. I'll do as you say & also keep searching. I've had lots of success with the other branches of the family but this one has been difficult to crack.
The oldest daughter , my grandmother, married Arthur Edward Larmour around 1920, but her mother, (Elizabeth nee Jarvis) remarried to a John Larmour around the same time and it was never discussed! I think the Larmour men were father & son possibly...
Anyway, thanks

Margaret ,the names George Lawrence and Elizabeth Jane Morrison are nothing to do with you.

They are only listed because they share the same registration number as James and Elizabeth
