We have 2 possible sightings of Dominic in 1901.

Dominic's marriage address is the same road that Catherine's father Patrick was on in 1881.

These people are at 1 Ingham road in 1901 just 1 year before the marriage.

Dominic martin went to canada 1920 with his sister in law mary sweeney they met up with each other within 6 months had a baby girl called lena unsure Wether the child lived long.
They lived ward 4 ontari canada

Donna..I am inclined to think the child Lena's Death posted by Gritty (August 2015 above) is probably that of "Dominic" Martin and Mary Sweeny.....

If you check out the details on family search.org you will see the original Certs. for her Death and they are very detailed...gives her place of Birth as Toronto and her parents details and place of residence 1929....

The only slight discrepancy is her age although she was aged 7yrs 8 months at her time of death and birth date given as 4th May but no year...." Dominic" may well have used another Christian name.....

thank you for that i had a small feeling it could be but part o fme didnt want it to be, as its weird as he names one of his other daughters colena which was my nanna and every body knew her as lena so strange.

i have found one of his sons grave atillio martin died in 1955 and now trying to locate his son frank martin will keep you all posted

I wonder whether when "Dom" Martin gave his name, someone heard "Tom" and made it Thomas

or ... he was pursuing the 'not Italian' endeavour :-)

as Thomas is apparently the name of the grave site owner as well

but the coincidence of names, ages and place are too much to be coincidence

i agree about the italian line thou he was born there when he emmigrated to canada he stated that he was from ireland i just presumed that he followed suit with meeting his said cousion mary sweeney whos father was from ireland or i could be totally wrong.
liek i said i am by no way brilliant at this at all and i really do apprecaite all the help that i am getting.

do they have a census so i can check to see if they had any more children

I found Mary Martin, widow, at 45 Ennerdale Rd in Toronto, in the 1935 Canada voters' list at Ancestry

unfortunately there were no adult children with her and no one else in the household

... well but if she only had the one child in the 1921 census, no children after that would have been 21 by the time their father died

I'll look for her in later years later when I get some time ... addresses and other occupants' names are not transcribed at Ancestry so you have to look at each possible image

the one possible I see is a Mary Martin, maid, living in the same riding, in 1945 ... it turns out to be an area of barristers and senior civil servants and every single house has a maid

I found 45 Ennerdale in 1940 by finding her neighbour there, and she is gone from that address by then, unfortunately

with a name like Mary Martin, once she is in the wind ...

if anyone else is looking there is a Mary Martin widow with a golf club maker son - that is not her, she was with her husband in a previous election

that's the other thing, the Canadian voters' lists were prepared only in election years so there is lots of time for people to move around in between - and they also do not state ages, just sometimes occupations
