Have started the bacon - the eggs are done and the mushrooms and tomatoes are just about ready.

I picked up some fresh croissants and danish pastries while I was out.

Can you put the toast on please and do the juices - I will make the tea and coffee and we will be just about there................

Nothing has been happening on the boards as usual, but I had someone who requested my help by pm....and it is so annoying when you cannot reply because of the error message

Only noticed it after the olympic thingy...other good reason not to renew

GR are not doing themselves any favours...trees are C**p so they say...dont care myself as mine is on ancestry and Squidility ditt to do on the boards...so Its time to find somewhere else to play

GR have just notified me by email that my renewal subscription is due on the 10th of August.

As it will only cost me £7.96 for 6 months (30p a week, or 4p a day) to renew I will certainly continue my membership. It is hardly going to bankrupt me. The site may have its difficulties and at times these can be very frustrating but for what it costs I can live with them.

It has got to be worth that just to wind up Gins and the others occasionally. ;-)

Yeeh - I do SO miss the boards 'as they used to be' ! - There were new challenges coming up every minute.

There is nothing interesting to work on any more. :-(

my Danish cousin ..... who has more or less a copy of my ( ie our family ) tree ... emailed and said she added some rellies ( she hopes ) she found in Dorset ( via opc dorset) and asked will I have a look ............... But I could not see her tree .... as a free member ........ could not be bother to explain all .to her ..in case she thought I could not pay...... . so just rejoined ........ 7.96 for six months ........ ......... ah well

it was a lovely sunny day today :-D



I watched the Opening Ceremonies on the taped delay that we got here ..... from 7 pm to 11 pm our time.


Liked the first part.


Really disliked the middle section .................. had to keep looking away as the flashing lights combined with the music kept making my eyes feel funny. Just like the start of a migraine


Enjoyed the Athletes Parade ..... I love seeing their uniforms. BUT we kept missing chunks of the Parade for "commercial breaks".


Thought that it was overlong, and wished they had spent more time on similar to the first part.



Doesn't count as one of my favourite Opening Ceremonies!


Been interesting to see the comments by some Canadian and American media



Lots of the aspects of the "show" went right over their heads. For example, many US media types (and people) just cannot understand why you would celebrate the NHS ............. and thought the nurses and the big baby "freaky".

Health schemes are foreign to many of them ............ communistic even!




BUT that is why I forgot to do breakfast and brunch! It ended so late.

As a result of Renes posting about it on another site ................... I finally used my anniversary present from last year :-D


OH has kept asking if I have subscribed to fmp "yet"



Now I can say, yes ................... and I got him a cheap deal :-D :-D :-D :-D



It only took me 50 weeks to take him up on the offer :-D



UNFORTUNATELY ................ I spent about 30 or 40 minutes looking at fmp, trying to find some US records for my Great-Aunt and her husband.



Guess what I kept getting every time I wanted to open a record?????????

This year's anniversary is a biggie ................. and the joint present will be a trip to Churchill on Hudson Bay to see the Polar bears, delayed to October 2013


BUT the fmp sub should need renewing just about anniversary time next year. By which time, I should know whether it is any use to me.
