Dea!!! Tuts.......... ;-)
I had a similar phone call this week too.....they must be working overtime...somewhere or other :-D
That's a real shame about JB's ring Gins.......have you looked at the outside drain? Not being funny but, a few years ago, OH lost his ring and, you would never believe it but, coming in from the garage the next morning, I saw a glint and yes, there was the ring in the drain. It had presumably come off whilst he was washing his hands.
It's even worth checking the silliest places.....eg...the laundry basket ; the towels in the bathroom; all possible pockets; the vacuum cleaner.
I picked up my daughter a couple of weeks ago and one of her neighbours was sitting on the grass painstakingly going through his bin. He had lost his false tooth! arrrrghhh BUT he found it in the vacuum cleaner bag. :-0
My son has his gt.grandmother's ring as his wedding ring. She must have been a fair sized woman given the size of the ring.
When my mum died and the nurse took her wedding ring off and formalities were completed, I put it straight onto my little finger and it has stayed there since. It is absolutely tiny and quite thin.
OH is watching one of the Men in Black films.......what a load of.....????? The talking pug is quite funny though. :-D

Gins ..............
sorry to hear that JB has lost his wedding ring.
But how lovely of his mother to offer his Dad's ring.
I had never removed my wedding ring ................... but then I put on weight, my fingers also got larger, and the ring seemed as though it might become embedded .................. so I decided it needed enlarging.
But I then couldn't get it off :-0
I tried holding my finger under cold water, rubbing soap round my finger, etc etc .......... but the ring still wouldn't go past my knuckle
went into our little local jeweller, who told me what to do, assuring me "that always works"
It did!
I took the ring into him, and he stretched it just a bit, and I had it back on my finger within the week.

My ex never wore his wedding ring....maybe I should have known it was'nt going to last.
I have been worrying about my half soveriegn ring I have worn since I was 18.
It has moved fingers over the years and its a bit buckled now, but has ended up on my wedding finger for the last year and was feeling a bit tight....Just managed to prise it off....now what shall I do with it? too big for little finger on left hand
Just stuck on my right hand little finger as thats bigger...see how it goes :-D
ja...x
Edit - Nope it just fell off :-(

can't think of any suggestion for you .......... unless a jeweller could "stretch" it enough to fit your ring finger ???

Sylvs....that looks simply wonderful ... Thank you .... <3
Jax, rather than risk losing it, if you can't get it to fit, why not put it on a nice chain and wear it as a necklace?
Gotta go...........Harvest..................................will be...................chockabloc :-S

So, Sylvia, you never did tell us what the secret was that the jeweller told you.
I am curious now, how did you get that ring off? What is the method that 'always works' ?? :-S

Bake figs, skin on, rubbed with olive oil !
Cut a cross in the top and stuff them with goats cheese - 400 degrees for about 10 - 12 minutes in the oven ??
Serve drizzled with honey

OOOppps - just realised you said do you 'eat' the skins, not do you 'cook' them.
The answer is - it is a matter of choice!
You can eat them if you wish but if you don't like them, just eat the middles!
