Hi All

I'm looking for a Frederick Ernest Etches in the 1901 census but I have since decided he may have been in Scotland as 2 of his children in the 1911 census were born in Dundee Scotland. I would also like to find the births of theses 2 children Amelia 1898 and Frederick 1899.

Can anyone help? Did they have the census in Scotland?

Regards
Dave

Hi Dave,

Sob! I don't think you ever thanked Maddie and I (me??) for our last replies.

However, the 1901 Scotland transcriptions only are on Ancestry and they've made some lulus here:

You'll have to look at:

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

It's a pay site, but you can see the original 1901 census as well as the childrens birth regs. (Pretty easy to find,I'm sure-if you narrow down the search year for their births.)

Hi Maureen
I'm so sorry for not thanking you and Maddie with your help on the ELGAR, HELGAR (and the many more spellings) family. Just to let you know that I have now most of the info on this side of the family. Nellie was my mother-in-law's Mother. Sadley my mother-in-law Joyce died early in June 2011 and you never seem to ask the questions you need when people are around to answer them.
However thank you once again and also for the information you have supplied with regards to the Etches. This is my son-in-law's family I'm researching.
If I need any further help (as Arnie says) I shall return.
Thanks
Dave xxxx

Hi All
I'm looking for my Grandmother in the 1891 census. Her name is Emily Minnie Taylor born 1882 in Staines Middlesex. I can find her in the 1901 census living in Staines in service to a Mr Seddon. In the 1891 census I have a Emily Taylor with the Tedder family but it says born in Feltham Middlesex, however on the census form it says something in the relationship to head of household which I can't read. Can anybody help with a different site look up.
Thanks for your help.

Still not convinced this is the same Emily Taylor mainly because there is another Emily Taylor born in 1882 in Feltham. Shall keep looking and as a last resort send for the birth cert for parents name.

Thanks once again.

Hi Maureen
Sorry I haven't replied earlier but had things to do.
Sarah was a Spicer (I think) but what happened to her I can't find out, she just seems to have dissappeared. The other strange thing is that on the 1891 census Joseph has his Mother in law living with him and the surname is LEADER which would lead you to think that Sarah maiden name was Leader would it not or am I completly on the wrong track.
Would like your views on the subject.
Regards

I really dont think that is her on the 1881 you have Dea..I looked at that first thing and it just didnt sit right.
But of course I have been known to be wrong on occasion?

I think that she wore her hubbys out rather quickly did our Elizabeth Spicer c1830
