Congrats, nice result.

Get your certificates to confirm, Dorothy and Mary Jane could not be sisters if Dorothy was formerly Preece?

best regards Deborah

I have posted one for Jane in 1901on previous page which i think could be Mary Jane. I see above that post you have her birth index sept quarter 1891 so she wouldn't be on that census

Hi again,

I think, Paul, you should get Mary and William's marriage certificate and that will give you hopefully the name of Mary's dad, and how old she was roughly at the time of the marriage.

And get the death certificates for William and Dorothy. If they are correct they will give you the name ( hopefully ) of the informant.

It certainly looks like Mary Jane was a relative of you Dad, a possible aunty. It has been really great working with you. Please keep us informed.

I have just looked at the 1891 census.

On the occupation of Sarah Lewis it says she is an "earth transferer".

Does anyone know what an "earth transferer" is???

Thanks

Paul

ValT Report 10 Oct 2008 23:13

Hi Paul,

Earth Transferer seems to do with Potters/Potteries etc.

Thanks for the update.

Looking forward to the next stage in the saga.
