Frances Amelia was certainly a bit ecconomical with the truth wasn't she as she must have been at least 36 going by the 1871/81 census, she must have been born 1869 or 70.

Have you actually seen the will and did she name Jessie as her daughter?

Hi Christine
I have not seen the will my uncle has a copy of it, on the will she leaves £100 :00 each to Herbert brother, Teresa sister, and then the same to Jessie listed as in her married name in 1935 no mention of the word daughter.

I'am going out now for a couple of hours be back later. x

I'd seen that Rose but she couldn't only be 1 in 1871 and there is also this death

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol

Deaths Dec 1867 (>99%)

Eaton Frances Annie 1 Aston 6d 246

This seems to take care of this one.

Hi Rose

I don't think that birth in 1866 is your Frances, as there seems to be a corresponding death:

Births Mar 1866 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EATON Frances A Aston 6d 355

Deaths Dec 1867 (>99%)

Hi Angela, great minds think alike, lol

There was a Lillian Eaton registered in Chorlton in the time frame but it's not her as she is on the 1871 census.

I haven't been able to find the others in 1901 either Angela, goodness knows where Theresa was. She married in 1902 I think it was to a william Sudbury in Belper, Deryshire.

Hi Rose,

Details of where they were in 1891 are on the 1st page of this thread, Margaret Manson found them.

Whatever the ties were with the Eatons and the Lakins they must have been strong musn't they as Fanny E (mother)was with themin 1881 and then 27 years later it appears that Frances Amelia aka Fanny Lilian brought up the daughter of Fanny Violet Lakins.

The big question still remains where did Fanny Violet come from and where did she go after Jessies birth???

sprucespringclean Report 10 Mar 2008 20:28

Hi Christnine
Yes of course Margaret found them derrrrrrrrrrrrr. my head is spinning with this family. Well she was in Crich for the birth of Jessie 1907. We also know Frances Amelia alias Fanny Lilian was in wheatcroft 1906 and wheatcroft is the ajoining village to Crich the family owned 2 farms one in wheatcroft and the other in Plaistow green but i cannot find out who was living at Plaistow in 1907 when Jessie was born. And i Cannot make out who owned what from the conversations i have with my uncle, i'am going to try and visit him closer to the weekend, then i can see the will for myself to see how it is worded. He has always said Frances was a wealthy woman if so where did the money come from? Another thing i have not got a birth reg for Frances Amelia alias Frances Lillian.

Hi Rose,

I can't find a birth reg for her either but as far as I know it wasn't compulsory to register births till 1875 but I could be wrong. There will surely be a baptism record somewhere though.

I think you will find that Wheatcroft is just an area in Crich as is Plaistow Green and not another village.
I have details of the enumeration districts and both of them are in District 9 for Crich.
I suppose it's possible that Job and Frances moved to a different farm when they married.

Would you like me to email you the images for te Larkins and the Eaton one for 1891?

If I remember correctly you told me that your uncle said the Eatons were from Nottingham so if he has traced a family there it must be the wrong one.

Hi christine
Thats right my uncle did think they came from nottingham, the reason for this was because of teresa's address on the will in 1935 her address was listed as nuttall, which is in nottinghamshire. I would like the images please. I am going to ring my uncle to find out if anyone else was listed on the will ie a a fanny Voilet ? i will get back to you after i have rung him. Thankyou.

Hi Christine
Can you find a death for either Edwin or Fanny Elizabeth, i know Edwin was alive in 1906 when Frances married Job having no luck getting in on freesearch bmd and ancestry trying to look by going through all bmd's as i do not have membership thankyou Rose x

ChristineinPortugal Report 12 Mar 2008 09:40

Hi Rose,

It could be a long trawl as they would have been about 60 in 1906 wouldn't they?

Images on ancestry are really slow loading so afraid I can't do it at the moment.
