Yes, I ended up l;ooking at someone in Kendal, but I couldn't remember how I got there and can't see the link anymore. trouble is, with just a name...
There needs to be something that links an Edward Kitching born in the 1870's with an Edward Richard Kitching born in 1904. I just don't know how to do that and I've spent the whole afternoon trying.

David Report 6 Jun 2008 20:50

Mind you... Tailors Apprentice....Edward Kitching did go on to be a manager in a cotton importing firm...

Hi David that was why I made the connection but I don't think it's correct theres a big age difference between birth.

I'm hoping that someone more experienced will come and have a look.

I don;t understand why there's no birth cert. As ERKs father is mentioned on the marriage cert, albeit deceased...unless he was invented.

David

David Report 6 Jun 2008 21:12

Birth cert for ERK that is....

Did Edward have any siblings?

David

David Report 7 Jun 2008 10:29

The Edward who died? I don't know. Actually, I don't know for ERK either.
Just ordered EKs death cert.

David Report 7 Jun 2008 10:36

There's always been a story that we're linked to a General George Kitching. He was a contemporary of ERKs but I've investigated it and can't see the link. It may be back and his branch could have been from a sibling of EK, or further back, I suppose. The General was with the Britich Army in India in the thirties and the Canadian Army in WW2, where he became quite famous.

My other also mentioned relations in Canada called Crump. But no one knows anything about it. ['Bertram Crump'?]

Hopefully the Edward Snr's wife will have been the informant (if she outlived him)

If ERK had siblings you would be able to order one of their birth certificates to get the mothers maiden name, as your ERK was probably registered under his mother maiden name.

Someone else trying to follow this tree has Emily Williams as EKs wife, born 1875, but I think it's a guess. Dang, I can't remember where I found that now...this is the trouble with doing this, you lose track.
