Have you been in touch with the society of genealogists to see if Seaforth highlander officers would be in their books of Army officer lists?

Hello Folks,
well there has been no progress at all on this thread, I have now followed up all your suggestions all to no avail but that does not mean that I am not grateful for all your help.
You have all been so kind to me and I appreciate it very much, thank you.
No Tracey there has been no news from Thomas
I really dont think Dianes roots will ever be traced.
Kind regards to you all
Evelyn

Evelyn at least next year we will hopefully be able to track her down on the 1911 census, i'm sure there will be many of us hunting her down! Diane can't hide forever! I am sure she is illgitimate and changed her name to be what she was told was her fathers name, only time will tell.

Thank you Lady Kira, sadly I do not have 1911 census so I cannot persue the Malcolm Macleod thread, I wonder if he had siblings?

There are several Malcolms in that regiment at the time. This is the oldest and highest ranked in 1911. Looking at the original in the box that says If absent on census night write Absent and for those in the United Kingdom specify wether in England Scotland Wales or Ireland it says

Absent Scotland. Scotland is crossed out in red and on board HM(?) Rewa England
