	clara covelands mar 1901. have been trying to find her death but cant. no one in the family remembers aunt clara and can only think she died quite young. the spelling changes doesnt help! i tried to find the family on the 1911 census but her mother sophie skinner didnt show anywhere in the kent area. janey if you a spare 5 to have a look id be grateful. i put this here because all the other info relevant is on this thread. thanks flo

	Just searching through 1901 for those living in thanet I have found lots of unreadable entries like this one for instance. 1901 census - household transcription Person: ?, ? Address: 36, Central Road, St Lawrence Intra ?, ? Head Married M ? ? Kent VIEW ?, ? Wife Married F 62 1839 ? Kent VIEW ?, ? Daughter F ? Kent VIEW ?, Lizzie Daughter F 11 1890 Ramsgate Kent It could be that your family are one of these entries.

	I have tried all sorts of combinations trying to find Sophie and Clara in 1911. You have Sophies marriage cert so can you say what age Charles Edward Skinner was when they married and his occupation -if we can find him we might find them

	on their marriage cert, it gives charles edward skinner age 31(born around 1871) profession-dealer. living at 6 forge lane ashford, kent. his father was stephen john skinner, carpenter. at this address also lived sophies mum hannah, husband henry syrett and their children. dont know how long they all lived together though. they married on the 7th may 1902 in ashford,kent. i appreciate the help in this and i know its not the easiest of searches, but at the same time i just want to complete the history of this part of the family. on a separate tree i am doing the skinner family ie charles family but thats a different story!! ladies thanks for info today flo

	I still cant find Charles Edward with Sophie/Sophia in 1911. As regards Clara it might be the case when Sophie married Charles , that Clara was put up for adoption? Have you got her birth cert yet? I think registers are notated on adoption but this may not apply to certs

	hi there, thanks for all that what a lot of skinners!. i have claras birth cert. she was named clara covelands mar 1901 born. you see her brother charles arthur was my grandad. he lived until he was 55 and died in 1957 but at no time was ther ever a mention of clara by any of the family. i do wonder if she died very young. ie before she was 3? after charles was born and after his mother married sophie had another child called may skinner. she was born around 1904/5. some of her children are still living albeit very old and i have no contact at all and being 900 miles away have no chance of getting any info however she also is invisible as regards her birth as i have exhausted everywhere in looking for her. i know when she died and when she married but where and when she was born is another matter. anyway for now will digest some of the skinner info you have uncovered. i have sent for the birth cert that could be sophie in thanet. they said at the gro 10 days and there is still a backlog so will have to be patient i guess. thanks to all for helping tonight flo

So this birth looks most likely, and he fibbed about age when he married: Births Jun 1865 Skinner Charles Edward Bromley 2a 288 Just in case he decided to come clean about his age in 1911. ;) What else can you tell us abut May Skinner born c 1904/5? From her marriage record -- any middle initial? married where? From her death record - died when? before 1971 so no birthdate on death record? any chance of a middle name/initial on death record? Details might help find her birth / find them in 1911 ...
