And now Round 3 has been restored and people are making their way back to that.

Decision handed to Susan as to which to continue with. Personally I'd plump for No. 3 as it is stickied by GR. Hopefully that might mean it wouldn't get deleted again. Right or wrong?

Edit: I gather it means it stays at the top of the Board.

Glad you read it Michael because there it was - now GONE.

Hope it was Susan's decision this time.

Yes, it would seem so.

I'd better push this one up as well. Michael off to Anniversary celebration and I'll probably be absent this afternoon. Anyone else willing to give it a push later?

I would have thought GR would have to give a reason why they are deleting a thread ... or is that too much to expect ?

Dozey

Dozey Report 1 Jul 2010 21:27

Hi Sylvia

So it's GR striking again. Maybe because it had become so long. It was something like 220 pages or so. Remember you saying about a bet you had with yourself that it would be over 3000 by the time you got back from your trip.

The answer to your question Michael is 'Yes - probably'.

Just got back on. Going to have a look at the rest now.

No

they do not give a reason

nor do they tell you that a thread or posting has been removed

UNLESS it has been removed because someone has complained that it is too abusive ....... then GR will tell you that you have been banned for a period of time

Jeanie

........ it really cannot be because ti is too long. That is a fallacy that some people keep saying.

There are threads on General and Chat that are 600 pages long.

Someone has clicked on the Request Review button, typed in some very good sounding reason why the thread should be removed (very abusive; against the T&C's because xxxxxxx; "I find this personally offensive/ derogatory to me", etc etc)

Then the moderators at GR click on the delete button without reading anything to see whether the reporting was correct.

You can really tell that is what happens when you read the email that GR has just sent Susan, and that she ahs posted on the thread

Hi Sylvia

This one has been sorely neglected after last night's flurry of activity. I'll take a look at Susan's thread again now but I thought GR said it was a technical glitch.

Jeanie

Edit: Yep - that's what it said.

Dear Susan

Thanks for your email

I am sorry for the delay in replying. As you are aware we have now reinstated your thread. It looks like it's removal was a technical glitch, it had not been reported as abusive. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Do you see the NOT reported as abusive. Think GR has a software problem.

Edit: I'm hoping Ginny gets the same message then we can all be satisfied that there is not a nasty spiteful person about getting threads deleted.
