in front of me i have original death cert of g grandma mary elizabeth jones age 84 died oldham general hosp 1st dec 1960 widow of john edward jonesaddress 21 cardinal st oldham why can i not find her in genes death index anybody got any ideas it is driving me mad

I,ve never had much luck with finding people on this index ....

found this in 1901-I AM IN NO WAY CERTAIN ITS THEM!!! but may be a possible

do you have names of any of the children born in Oldham please? Presumably you got Mary's maiden name from one of them.

There are a few John E Jones who married a Mary E in Oldham in the possible time scale and it would help to identify the right one in 1911/1901.

my granddad norman born aug 1915 he had brothers arthur who was older leonard who was older &sid who was younger he had 2 sisters nellie & rose who were older there were no other children

Something is wrong with the above.
If they have been married for 13 years, May would have been 11! Either her age is down wrong ( the image says the same) or John has been married for a total of 13 years, and May is his 2nd wife.

Earlier, you said that John's wife was Mary E from Ireland. These details don't match up with what you 'know'.

I have just found the same.
On lancs bmd there is only a MAY JONES b 1899 mmn Cropper and a NORMAN JONES b 1915 mmn Cropper.
Where are they on 1901.

In that case, the 1911 we found could be wrong, even if the pob for John is correct.

If you are going from verbal memory for the children, it is possible that someone was estranged from the family, or died young and not talked about.

Perhaps someone has the time to go through all the John Jones/Mary Jones to see if they can come up with a better fit, even if the pob's aren't as you think they ought to be?
