4. WILLIAM WILLIAMS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 13 FEB 1842 Monken Hadley, London, England
was a child of george and Judith so indicates they should be around 1841

Interesting as a just found a Judith William on the same page as the 2 Matilda Smiths in Guys hospital. Judith was a nurse but may not be your Judith.

Hi again. Yes 1881 and 1891 census ties in with what I have.
The baptism for William seems correct. From other thread
Name: William Williams
Record Type: Baptism
Date: 13 Feb 1842
Born: 25 Aug 1828
Abode: Ealing
Father's Name: George Landgridge Williams occ Builder
Mother's Name: Judith Williams
Parish: St Mary the Virgin, Monken Hadley
Borough: Barnet
County: Middlesex
He married 1847, so know can not have been born 1841. Baptised same place as siblings in earler years, with same parents names. Possibly no cash for baptism after his birth, or any other one of lots of reasons. Or know Judith had died by 1847, when father George md Sophia. Maybe she wanted William baptised when she knew she was dying. Endless possibilities.

Wouldnt it be a romantic story if Judith was nursing Matilda, and then introduced her to her youngest son William and love flourished.
Have to log off, will try get back on tomorrow. Thanks for help today and hope tree was useful.

Hi Listers,
I was wondering if someone can tell me where I go next. I am researching my husbands
family.I found the christening of his gr.gr.grandfather Henry John WILLIAMS B Apr
21,1791 in Monken Hadley son of John and Elizabeth.I got a copy of the parish register
christenings of Monken Hadley.Besides Henry John of children of John and Elizabeth
were George Langridge c Aug 12,1892,John c Sept.8,1793 Mary c May 31, 1795 Richard c
Apr 10,1796 and Elizabeth c Sept 24,1797.The next entries are for children of John and
Mary :James c July 4,1802 Eliza c Jun 24,1804,Caroline c Oct 6 1805 Catherine c Nov
31,1806 James --- WILLIAMS c May 9 1808.At first I thought that John and Mary must be
John and Elizabeth's son but then realized that unless John was having children at the
ripe old age of 9 it was not possible. I have been in touch with the vicar of the
church in Monken Hadley and he very kindly sent me a list of the WILLIAMS that are
buried in the cemetery. There is an Elizabeth who died Jun 10!
,1798.This makes me think that possibly she was Henry John's mother and after her
death his father remarried. My problem is I don't really know where to go next to find
out if this is true,I can find no marriage for a John and Mary c1800.The cemetery
also has a James Fosbury Williams d Jun 19,1868 age 60 which I think makes him the
James --- born to John and Mary.My husband gr.grandfather was James Fosbury WILLIAMS
born in Canada so it appears that Fosbury is a family name from somewhere that has
been passed down.
If someone could help me with where I should go next to prove or disprove my
assumption I would greatly appreciate it.
TIA

I am hoping a wonderful helper out there will have been watching this thread and can help me with the following. Because of the difference with Matildas age that has been found, I still have a nagging doubt I have the correct Smith family. Could someone please 1. See if you can find another Samuel Smith, living Surrey, deceased by 1847, with daughter Matilda born about 1826.

2. See if you can find another George Landgridge Williams, Builder, with son William, born 1827-1831. (Minor on marriage record)

I know initially seems unlikely, but some of the dates found on the thread just dont add up. Yet other things, like William and Matilda being witnesses at George and Sophias marriage do.

A very early contact researching the family, had found a marriage 1826 for a George L Williams to a Sarah Horton, but I could never find it, so couldnt be sure.

I know I have had lots of help already, but feel there may be another Samuel out there, with daughter Matilda.
Thanks Gill

I have now searched anc myself and am sure all the info on this thread for my George Langridge Williams and family is correct and mine. Still have a doubt about the 3 Smith sisters, but the census with mother Sarah and 3 daughters of correct names seems conclusive. Can not be sure on baptisms, as found several baptisms, all about correct ages, for Matildas, carolines and Sophia Smiths with father Samuel different moither names, however Samuel could have married more than once. Thanks again for all help.
