There is a public tree on Ancestry with George and Martha but Lily is not on there.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 30 Jul 2010 23:24

I rather suspect that she is an "adopted"daughter and neither of their offspring.
Maybe a child of a soldier that was killed and her mother already dead?

Will have to think on things,as I always say

My best work is done while thinking .)

Thank you for trying to help LK.
I note the absentees........................

I wondered about the adoption line too although adoptions were often linked to the family in some way.It could be worth following the family through a little to see if any gems are thrown up.

Input from Renes on another branch line being put here so I dont loose it and her very welcome search for it,and it also brings this back to view in my threads instead of having to search through hundreds to find it...
Well ok,not quite hundreds ,but getting there.

Marianne Hurley Richard/Miriam Cannington Lab 9 10 1814
Jane Hurley Richard/Mariam Cannington Lab 5 3 1820

For information only re Charlnch
CHARLINCH MARRIAGES 1789 TO 1834
While the Register for 1779 to 1838 has apparently been lost, I was able to decipher rather poor Bishop's Transcripts from fiche and this file has been made from that. Although there will be missed years due to transcripts being lost, I consider we probably have 70% or so of the missing data here.

No Hurley s shown

Charlinch Baptisms CHARLINCH BAPTISMS 1744 TO 1861

Mary Ann Hurley Samuel/Emma Charlinch Labourer 24 3 1833
Edward Hurley William/Jane Charlinch Labourer 6 7 1834

No Hurley Death recorded at Charlinch

I will now check the other Parishes close by - it would seem the Hurley s do not appear at Cannington until 1800s and only a few over a few short years

See if I can find where they came from
Richard could be incorrect in place of birth

A very humble thank you to my friends.

Fans....I did have a look at the 1911 yesterday but it didn't show anything and I have had success on there before. What did you do - I need to learn.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Sep 2010 21:31

How do you mean ..it didnt show anything?

I just put in Wilhelmina Moody.
Ticked variants on first name only.
Didnt add a birth year
And only that one comes up.

On FMP,not the official site thingy.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 23 Sep 2010 21:37

Ah well....I did the official site thingey but didn't think about ticking variants etc.

As my mother use to say....."Your kindness outweighs your beauty"........Thanks. x.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Sep 2010 21:41

Certainly does in my case.;)

Always tick variants with funny sounding names, they are rarely "speled corect."

Marriage cert in 1899 says Francis is a Potman/Barman and his father is ...John Godfrey ..Coachman.(deceased)

I have him on 1911,still born New York but transcribed age incorrectly as on the image he is def 10 yrs younger that they have transcribed him as born 1862,Lily (snr)has died and 2 of the children are missing ,Evan knows where on 1911, as I nor many others can find the one I have for sure who was my starting point as she was Sparky friends Gran..
I would like to see Francis on any earlier census and please dont go into Lily Godfrey ,she is a nightmare and was not a Greenleaf as she has on the marriage cert but was "adopted".

On the daughters birth cert it has Francis Godfrey..Newpaper packer. But on her marriage she has Daniel Godfrey..printer....just to confuse things.
And yes I am CERTAIN that I have the correct marriage for Gladys Priscilla and her birth..
Maybe she was not brought up by her father and thought his name was Daniel, although one of the witnesses on her marriage was from her mothers side and I would have thought may have known? But maybe did not want to correct her...
