I am trying to find the death of my great nan

Ada Florence Mary Turner ( the middle names seem to come and go)

Her birth certificate details are
Ada Powell .........born 6th May 1871 St Pancrs
her marriage is

August 6th 1888 age 18
Ada Powell.. marrying Henry Turner age 22.

I know that Henry either died or they split up, (cannot find his death either) as i know that later in her life she lived with Robert Tuvey,

I have one death certificate for a Ada Florence Mary Turner on 17th Nov 1940,30 twickenham road, Isleworth, widow of Willam Lewis Turner, and attended by daugher Elsie Wade, but this cant be her, unless she marred another Turner?

She would have died in the London area. probably st pancras/Camden areas

any help would be great.

many thanks.

kidsnpets Report 6 Aug 2010 16:12

I have lots of brothers for Henry but William isnt one of them!

the date isnt quite right either as she would have been about 70 not 76 in1940.

but cannot seem to find another one close, maybe she was registered as Tuvey but cannot find that either, as i know they had a pearly wedding but dont think they were married legally.

Ethel Report 6 Aug 2010 16:26

Hi. you show them marrying when Ada was 22. I have found the following marriage. needs checking. She would still have only been 18/19

Ada Powell married Henry Turner 1888 July/Sept. Qtr. reg in St Pancras. vol 1b 146.

I think you first need to trace backwards from your Gran or Grandad (her child) to get some idea when they were born and if she was married to Henry then, also any other children (siblings to Grandparent.)Ethel.

kidsnpets Report 6 Aug 2010 16:59

thanks for your replys,
No i have no Wades in my tree anywhere, so i dont think this is her,
Ethel that is the mariage cert i have she was 18, Henry was 22, its just her death i cannot find.

many thanks

patchem Report 6 Aug 2010 17:10

Are you absolutely sure of the birth date?
And do you think she died around 1940?

kidsnpets Report 6 Aug 2010 17:21

That is the birth details i have from her certificate,
no i am not sure she died in 1940, this was the only death i could find,
that seemed to fit at all.
pretty sure she wasnt young when she died.

many thanks

Turner, Ada Florence

10 Mar 1942

Recorded at:

St Pancras Cemetery (Camden

this information is taken of deceased online, but I still cannot find a death that links up to this birth date, I have looked on freebmd and still nothing, if anyone can help would be really grateful.
many thanks

rootgatherer Report 18 Sep 2013 16:50

Name: Ada F Turner
Birth Date: abt 1876
Date of Registration: Mar 1942
Age at Death: 66
Registration District: Hendon
Inferred County: Middlesex
Volume: 3a
Page: 924

Remember that a burial may not always take place in the same area as the death was registered.

There are 11 other burials in that grave so it may be a communal lair.

kidsnpets Report 18 Sep 2013 18:14

thank you,
how do you know there are 11 other burials in that grave? and the other thing is that ada should be around 71 years of age when she died, not 66, but this is the only one I can find that is in the right area etc, I have been looking for a few years now, don't see why her death certificate would say she was 6 years younger then she was? any ideas please :-S

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 18 Sep 2013 18:37

A death certificate is only as good as the informant....

My mum was the informant for her mother's death and gave the wrong year of birth and so my nan was recorded as being a year younger than she actually was.

Reading your older posts maybe after Henry "left" she had a new partner and shaved a few years off her age...not unheard of!

I would get the death certificate and see if there are any clues you can work back from.

kidsnpets Report 18 Sep 2013 18:50

thank you,
she did have a new partner, they were together years, and he was quite a bit older then her so not so sure if she would have knocked a few years of.

I already have one wrong death certificate, don't really want to send of for another one, unless I am 100%.
can anyone find any other deaths that could possibly be her before I send of for it.

many thanks for the help <3

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 18 Sep 2013 19:08

You know her new partner "Tuvey"...have you checked out when/where he died - might give a clue

kidsnpets Report 18 Sep 2013 19:52

He died in 1939
137 Grafton Road St Pancras, London, Middx is where he was living then, not sure how that will help me

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 18 Sep 2013 20:09

Grafton Road St Pancras and Hendon are 4 miles apart....I'd wager that is a BIG clue!

It's worth a £9.25 punt!

rootgatherer Report 18 Sep 2013 20:42

When you search on deceasedonline, if you click on the name it gives a little more detail without costing credits. To see who is in the lair though you need credits.

Hope that helps.

kidsnpets Report 18 Sep 2013 21:55

think I am just getting in a muddle now, have found this one as well now
Turner Ada E (E could have been put instead of F) age 78 Pancras 1b 93 1944 this would be the right area but she would be 73 not 78
and this one is exactly the right age
Turner Ada 73 Hammersmith 1a 168 1944 but 7 miles from where most of her family lived
so don't know which one is the most likely :-S

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 19 Sep 2013 07:04

This is why you should have stuck to one post ...there is this on your other post

Have you considered this please? Could be a red herring.

Marriages Sep 1941
Stewart Thomas C Turner Pancras 1b 64
Turner Ada F Stewart Pancras 1b 64

Name: Ada F Stewart
Year: 1961
County or Borough: Camden
Ward or Division/Constituency: St Pancras North
Street Address: 33 Bap Tist

But actually at 33 Allcroft Road.

last name Stewart
first names Ada
Burial date 10 Feb 1988
Authority London Borough of Camden
Location St Pancras Cemetery (Camden)

But you can discount this one as she was born in 1905...and is probably the daughter of Ada and Henry?

Have just posted this on the other thread...

kidsnpets... you have at least two threads on the go and your question here there anyway of finding out how old Ada F is who married Thomas stewart is, (does it have hers or her husbands age on the electoral/census).
as if she was born in 1905, wouldn't she be a little bit old to be getting married for the first time in 1941.

is answered by me on the one which is titled "I still can't find her death"...

Please stick to the one thread! And the best one is the other one - suggest you go to it. and far better for you to copy this thread and then delete it!!

So hopefully the advice will be taken and we will all be singing ion this hymnsheet!!!! :-)

So for starters..Ada F who married Thomas Stewart is almost certainly one of Ada and Henry's children. Others were
