Christine its Sean not Robert! lol

OOPS - sorry Ann and Sean :)))))))) I think I must have been getting mixed up with Alice Violets possible husband !!

Thank you for looking at 1911 Ann. I can't fathom why on earth she would call herself Elizabeth Sarah just on one census and not on marriage or anything else!! Looking for a likely death for a Sarah Smith, even when you know it's probably Durham somewhere is like looking for a needle in a haystack. This is the nearest to age I have come across but who knows !! Perhaps Joseph Perriman worked her to death - Ohhhhhh I wonder if she married him - off to check:))
p.s. NO, doesn't look like it.

Deaths Mar 1914
Smith Sarah 54 Durham 10a 490

Hello Christine,

That death age for a Sarah Smith Durham is bang on! I am so glad I do not have any Smiths in my line. Sean has a lot to go now, but really needs Williams birth cert......to save going on a wild goose chase.

It is strange the ELIZABETH being thrown into the pot, very confusing!

Hello Ann

Yes, I didn't want to confuse him, but being a Smith by marriage myself I got a bit carried away I'm afraid:) I know what a pain they can be. My hunt for hubby's lot makes Seans look a doddle :))

Anyway, I hope that Sean will just make notes and keep them safe until he has the birth cert. I hope he comes back to tell us what it says. It would be lovely to know how some of these hunts work out.

Thanks everyone for everything, I have wrote everything down, and have been in touch with a registrar place (not sure which one, i forget lol) about birth, death and marraige cert for everyone (including William) that has been mentioned, but Williams certs are the main ones i am after, so hopefully i hear from them soon.

Don't worry, once i get my hands on them I will give you all the info that is on them, or if I can scan it, I can send you copies of it or something.

You're very welcome, but I should be thanking all of you, but I can't express how thankful I am.

Thank you all so much :)

Crikes!! Just had an e-mail from Sean, saying he has contacted someone regarding ordering all his certs, but he cant remember who!! Hope he has not given his CC details! Have sent him a reply stating to only order GRO and also the address and telephone number of Southport Registry, who I find are very helpful, as he may feel more comfortable "speaking" to someone before parting with his cash.

Don't panic, I didn't part wish cash or owt, I was only enquiring, I have used them before to get William Smith's marraige certificate, they never have any luck with his birth certificate though, I think it was South Tyneside Registry Office, he was married in South Shields, it was about 4 years ago now when they got me his marraige certificate.

But don't worry, I am not daft enough to be parting with cash with anyone, my cousin does the family tree too, but she does my Nana's side, I do the same side but also do my Grandad's side aswell, she gives me info on where I can find things aswell, so if I get stuck I can ask her, plus I now got all of you (who have so kindly helped and offered).

Anyway I only enquire about the certificates by email before I do anything lol

The possible birth I found earlier is at Durham. If you want to check parents details for a birth etc in Durham, these are the details for the Register Office Sean -

County of Durham The Register Office, Cockton House, 35 Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland, DL14 6HS.
Tel: 01388 607277. Fax: 01388 664388.
E-mail: [email protected]
On-line indexes - North East BMD

At the on-line indexes for instances, you can download a form where you can state the fathers name etc -

Christine2 Report 9 Feb 2011 22:47

No Sean, you have to buy the certificate to get the details. But if you find the birth (or whatever you are looking for) in the on-line indexes, you can then download a form to apply for it where you can state that you only want it if........... fathers name etc . That way you are more likely to get the right certificate without wasting your money.
If you phone them first you may even be able to do the same, it's worth a try.

Christine,

Sean was getting a muddled with the online, he sent me a pm, so I said ring Southport with your info and order over the phone if he feels more comfortable doing it that way.........think he is refering to that. lol

Oh sorry Ann, it's probably me not explaining very well as usual. I do apologise. I was the one who suggested the possible birth, so I was trying to save him money, now that Southport won't do checks. Thank goodness you were able to help.

With a bit of luck they will be understanding at Durham and let him do the same over the phone - fingers crossed.
