That is why we have been asking about who registered the death, if it was someone from the hospital surely they got her birth details from her medical records which Ellen would have given them?

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Feb 2012 02:15

North

Ellen would have given her doctor all her details when she registered with him ...... that's just the same as you do now.

So he would have had her birth details, her marital status, etc, on record.

When she was taken into hospital, she would have given those same details HERSELF to the hospital administration ........... just as you do now

If she was unconscious, or otherwise unable to give the details, the hospital would have contacted her doctor to get them.

Your mother and her brother would have been far too young to be asked.

so, this seems to show that the details on the death certificate regarding her age and her surname are exactly what ELLEN herself told the hospital ........ and the informant then used that information for registering her death.

maybe she wasn't registered with a doctor.

I just read your message about the ellen sweetman who died in 1994 that doesn not belong to the lady in 1914.

Now I understand. I was reading everbody message very quickly last week.

and i was getting a bet confused.

thats I was asking odd questions.

jax

jax Report 21 Feb 2012 03:31

Have you also seen my message that says Ellen Sweetman born 1914 could have married George Rosenberg in 1939?

NORTH

NORTH Report 21 Feb 2012 03:35

yeah I have. on find my fast . there is not any children. another ellen married a Traynor. they had children. another ellen married Crockett also no children.

now from beginning does that ellen born in 1914 could be my mother's mother.

NORTH

NORTH Report 21 Feb 2012 03:53

somebody said that she would be 43 which would confirm that mother is right.

jax

jax Report 21 Feb 2012 04:05

Sorry North I do not understand what you mean

You do not know that the 1914 birth is your grandmother.... if the birth matches the death of Ellen Rosenberg then it is not correct

If you think that is her birth...then purchase the cert

Madmeg Report 22 Feb 2012 00:51

North, please find that death certificate of Ellen Osbaldeston who died in 1965 supposedly age 47. We cannot do anything without it, and, sadly, maybe cannot do anything with it either, but at least get it please, as there is no other place to go. If your mother cannot find it, then get it yourself. We just want to know who recorded the death.

There is nothing more that we can do, it is all guesswork without that death certificate.

Name: OSBALDESTON, Ellen
Registration district: [?] Oldham
County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1956
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at death:47
Volume no: 10F
Page no: 34

You have no choice now. Either your mother has this certificate or she doesn't, in which case you need to buy it.

All oher speculation is pointless.

Get the certificate.

I think I've found the lady who was born in 1914 Lancashire.

Its's an Ellen Sweetman who married George Ronsenberg. She Died in 1992, Lanashire, she was born on in July the 6th,1914, Lanashire.

That lady was born in July -Aug-Sep Quarter.

Yes North

I have been saying this since page 1 of this thread

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 4 Mar 2012 21:43

I have been following this thread with interest. I totally agreed with the helpers who have said you NEED the death certificate North.

While it may be that the informant was a member of the hospital staff, you would image that Ellen must have given a next of kin. It is difficult to image that a lady with two young children gave no consideration as to what would become of her children when she was ill. Did Mr. Osbaldeson look after children after Ellen died? If the man that your mother recalls visiting was a sibling of Ellen, would he not have wondered at anytime after Ellen's death what became of her children?

With regards to Ellen's recorded age at the time of her death, I searched for a long time for a death of an ancestor (luckily with an uncommon surname) and eventaully bit the bullet and ordered a certificate where the age was "out" by 10 years. The age given on the actaul certificate was his correct age but for some reason it had been misrecorded on the index not mistranscribed from the index.

So really North, you do need that death certificate!

North, please get this certificate. You were alerted to it three weeks ago, and we cannot help you further until you have it.

my mother lived with her father when her mother died.

So I do not need to order Ellen Rosenberg death certificate to confirm she is the lady born in 1914.

jax

jax Report 5 Mar 2012 01:22

No one said you needed Ellen Rosenburgs death cert

It is your own grandmothers death cert which is needed

NORTH

NORTH Report 5 Mar 2012 01:32

my mother keeps saying there is no reason to look at it. she said everything is wrong on the certificate. I keep asking but she is convinced there is nothing there.
I've tried to find it but I have not successed. The only way is order one again but I feel im going behind her back.

My mother remembers going to Irlend for holiday. I've searched for a ellen in Irland records, but only one. I cant remember the year she was born. I dont have a subscripition to Ancesters. So I need to go to library to search again.

When my grandmother went to hospital she was very thin ,my mother says she was a like a ghost. She had a cut in her leg which led her cut go septic. She must have looked old to the doctors.
on the certifcate it writes she is around the age of early 50's.

I00 percent there was no family when she was in hospital.

I think you are going to be hard pushed to find Ellen without any real dates to go on

This is the only other Ellen and if you are adiment she was 43 when she died there is not much point in looking any further now

Births Dec 1908 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sweetman Ellen Solihull 6d 623

I have also said that Ellen could have perhaps been born with a different name. mother re married and Ellen took new fathers name ??

Unless you find some real evidence of her birth...this is just going around in circles

NORTH

NORTH Report 5 Mar 2012 02:26

I think I might have to accept that I my not tgoing to find her date of birth.

What I meant to say about ellen rosenberg certifiate is to confirm that she is the lady born in 1914.

my mother and I thinks she might not be sweetman.

jax

jax Report 5 Mar 2012 02:34

If she was born around war time, then there is a good chance Sweetman was not her birth name and as there are no more to choose from it looks very likely
