Surname MCBROOM.... Children are Jane born 1882, Annie 1884, Susan 1885, Robert 1886, Ellen 1886, John 1887, Archibald 1889, Isabella 1890, Janie or Jeannie 1892, William 1896 and Margaret 1898. I have the parents of these children as Archibald McBroom born 1860 and Anne (no surname). The children all born in Tarbolton, Ayrshire.... Archibald's parents listed as Gilbert Mc Broom and Margaret Grant. I am confused as I have Archibald married to Elizabeth Scobie and children of different names.....Could you help me solve my confusion. Thankyou |

If you buy the birth certificate (from Scotlandspeople) for the child that is your direct ancestor it will give you the date and place of the parents marriage. You can then check the marriage certificate for the correct parent s of Archibald. |

Archibald son of Gilbert and Margaret died in British Columbia, Canada, in 1938. This fact should assist in deciding if it's the right guy. |

This Canadian 1901 shows an immigration date of 1889 for this Archie so there does appear to be two of the same name: |
