Look for the daughter's birth on freebmd as a first step............

Have you tried to find a marriage for the parents?

Margaret's birthplace should be recorded on her death cert

Kathleen is, of course, originally an Irish name........perhaps the marriage ( and Margaret's birth) were in Ireland..........

Jacky

Jacky Report 17 Dec 2012 14:26

Who was the informanton the death cert?

Margaret's birth reg should be in the 2nd qtr of 1934 but there is only one Margaret Bowman coming up freebmd and that is in the 1st quarter.

Bear in mind that her mother could have been married before so her name in the marriage to George and her name in the birth index would be different (ie her first married name would be in the marriage index and her MN in the birth index.

Margaret may not, as I intimated earlier, have been born in England/Wales.

She could also have been born before her mother married

Have you tried to find a death for Kathleen?

????????

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2006

Name: Kathleen Bowman
Birth Date: abt 1913
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1962
Age at Death: 49
Registration district: Leeds
Inferred County: Yorkshire West Riding
Volume: 2c
Page: 332

Unfortunately, the death is too early for the maiden name and birthplace to be recorded on the death cert........

This may be completely off the wall, but the only marriage for a George Bowman to a Kathleen 1920-1940 is this one:

Marriages Dec 1937 (>99%)

Bowman George W D Stone Willesden 3a 939
Stone Kathleen B Bowman Willesden 3a 939

and there is this birth:

Births Sep 1935
Stone Margaret J Stone Islington ? See J'48 - birth registered late

Stone Margaret J Stone Islington 5c 1554

Possible births for the above marriage:

Births Jun 1938 (>99%)
Bowman Paul Stone Marylebone 1a 735

Births Mar 1940 (>99%)
Bowman Kathleen Stone Coventry 6d 1501

I think you'd be wise to invest in Margaret's death cert.......to find out her birthplace

There is no suggestion of a second forename in her death registration

morning
firstly i must say sorry for vanishing so quickly yesterday but my little grandson arrived unexspected & him & my pc don,t mix he wants to press all the buttons lol
rite back to the thread

potty
i have margarets marriage cert with george,s name on it & he has no middle names & reggie found what we think is a good match for the death of her mother kathleen i,m going to check that out later to comfim its the right one as the records are free too look at in the leeds libaray and she also did,t have any middle names on the death reg that reggie found so don,t think that is them but i,m working so far on the point that reggie pointed out that she may not have been born in england its so frustrating but thank you so much for your time potty

reggie
yes the death cert is the next step i think but will that give her place of birth & her mothers maiden name ????

many many thanks everyone for your time .advice & help & infomation

English death certs do not contain parental details

But, as I stated, her birthplace will be recorded, and you have to hope that the person who registered the death had accurate info.
