Sorry bit of a long one I need info on my wife's dad as I believe she has siblings we don't no and it is important to her we find them my wife's dads name was JOHN HAYES we no he was born at Hamilton Lanarkshire and his occupation in 1986 was chef in the Portsmouth area. We have this info from my wife's birth certificate. We have been told his year of birth was 1945 but this is just a hunch so could be completely wrong. We no he had at least 1 maybe more other child before he met my wife's mother. My wife has never met him. It is rumoured he has died but no one knows for certain so we are unsure. As he was Scottish he may have gone there to die or could be alive. We would love to find him if alive or his child/children please help it is important to my wife |

If he married her mum then a marriage cert could give you more info |

I'm assuming there was no marriage, in which case, you can't get info about his birth year, and the name is too common to hope to hit on the right one |

He was only in her life for first couple of months that's why she never really met him we worked out 1945 from how old we were told he was when she was born ;-) |

I am afraid that if you wish to find out if this John Hayes is the person that you are looking for you have no option but to order a birth certificate. |

Well, it certainly won't tell him if it is the right one but it may enable him to follow the parents back and find living relatives e.g.possible brother James ?? |

If its the only one around that time it will probably be him. With certificate I'm hopping to find if he has died as what my wife has been told doesn't make much seance he may have died in England as wife was born in Portsmouth. I also no he was married when he met my wife's mum to someone els and we know he had at least 1 child before my wife. If we could find out if he has died or any info abought marrege or the at least the 1 other child that we know he had it would be really good I will order the certificate tomorrow and may add another post if I need help with the rest thanks to every one for help |

If his wife was born in Portsmouth, you could try looking for a marriage in that area for him. |

His place of birth was also Hamilton and I've been told the only John Hayes around that time was born in 1944 so ill look at the records for John Hayes born 1944 for his death if I can find out each of them deaths and then were each of them were born wont that narrow them down?? And he had no middle name it's just John Hayes |

I'm not shore his wide was from Portsmouth I believe she was in Scotland. He was never married to my wife's mum. We bolivar he was married to another woman before he met my wife's mum. We know his unknown sons first name was Hugh or hughy I suspected with Hayes surname middle names unknown he would have been born before my wife so before 1986. We have just found this name out and know nothing els a bought this other child (Hugh) of John Hayes Hugh may have been born in Scotland but we don't no |
