There are WW1 Medal records on Ancestry for a William Dodge and 2 for a William A Dodge. Do you know his service number, to work out which is the right man?

gins im not sure he was at hms ganges training then went on to others ships like duke of edinburgh 1916 /1917

The Royal Navy Medal Rolls-Campaign,Long Service and Good Conduct medals are on the Ancestry website.

If he might have been awarded a Gallantry Medal, then it should be on the London Gazette website
