Battenburg Report 19 Jan 2013 04:58

Hi all
Just been down to the library to look for a family in 1911
In 1901
Charles Walker 1859 Sheffield
Hannah 1860 Middlesbrough
Charles H 1883 Middlesbrough
John 1885 Sheffield
Harriet A 1887 Mbro
Helen 1896 Mbro

John Walker married in sept qt 1910 to Ethel May Wicks
They had a daughter Ethel May Walker 17/12/1910 Middlesbrough

Found the Wicks family in 1911 but non of the Walkers
Ethel May Wicks is born c1892 Sunderland.

Can someone take a look. They could be just missing

Wicks family living 8 Duncombe St Middlesbrough in 3 rooms. I was born in no 42 and it was a two up two down. I was wondering if Ethel now married was living in the other room knowing how close families were

Is it possible to look for an address in 1911

Thanks

Flip

It is possible to search FMP by address but I can't see them in Duncombe St

There is this John and Ethel of the right age in 1911 but the daughters are rather out? Edit - Looks like these belong to a marriage a year earlier

Flip Report 19 Jan 2013 07:25

The form was signed by Hannah Walker (spelt correctly), but it doesn't look like the same hand writing as the person completing the details. I'll PM a copy of the image.

Battenburg Report 19 Jan 2013 07:28

Margaret Walker married William HF Hesse in 1910

I was sent info saying Hannah Forth has a sister who owned a clothes shop and in 1901 Harriet Fowler has a second hand clothes shop so it all fits

Thank very much

harriett Forth/Fowler was born in 1843 it seems so a lot older than Hannah - can't find a marriage to Robert Fowler though. But not finding John Ethel and Ethel.

There is a very well researched tree with lots of photos on A - your's?

Is it possible they had gone to Scotland?

More from John's record - Enlisted 2/9/1914 labourer at rollings mill, states he had lived at 5 Marlbro Place, Middlesbrough. Discharged 6/5/1919 address 1 Snowdon Road, Middlesbrough.

K Report 19 Jan 2013 08:34

Could Ethel May have been born in Duncan St from John's Army Records?

Flip

Flip Report 19 Jan 2013 08:38

K it could be Duncan Street, very poor writing. His wife's address was originally 5 Marlboro Place, but this was crossed out and replaced with 5 Roberts street.

Flip

Flip Report 19 Jan 2013 08:43

Forgot to mention, they married at St Hilda's church 15/8/1910, witnesses Thomas Tague and Lilian Wallace.

K

K Report 19 Jan 2013 08:44

Not that it helps much - there doesn't appear to be a Duncan St Middledbrough in 1911!

Flip

Flip Report 19 Jan 2013 09:12

K can you do a 1911 address search for 5 Duncombe Street? It really is a bad image so could be that.

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 19 Jan 2013 11:31

When they married address on that tree is 1 Nelson place Albert Street Middlesbrough Yorkshire North Riding

They married in August 1910 and Ethel May was born Dec 1910....can you do an address search for this in 1911 K as well (just to rule it out)
