Hi Wendy

Did you delete your thread on General Chat board?

Can you confirm the first names of the people you know and where they came from then people can help you work backwards?

Do you have their marriage certificate? If so does it name their fathers?

How far back do you have information on?

This looks like your father's birth record:-

Name: WISEMAN, Lewis A
Registration district: Tynemouth
County: Northumberland
Year of registration: 1928
Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Mother's maiden name: Dugleby
Volume no: 10B
Page no: 400

Possibly your mother's birth:-

Name: DAVISON, Margaret A
Registration district: Tynemouth
County: Northumberland
Year of registration: 1933
Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Mother's maiden name: Stanners
Volume no: 10B
Page no: 367

I can see from the death records that your father has passed away. If your mother is still alive I will delete her birth record for privacy reasons.

Because they were born after the 1911 census you will have to buy their birth certificates to get their parents names, then you will be able to look for the families on the 1911 census.

If the birth record I posted for your mother is the correct one then this could possibly be the marriage of her parents:-

Name: DAVISON, William
Registration district: Tynemouth
County: Northumberland
Year of registration: 1926
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Stanners
Volume no: 10B
Page no: 392

Name: STANNERS, Tina
Registration district: Tynemouth
County: Northumberland
Year of registration: 1926
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Davison
Volume no: 10B
Page no: 392

In which case there are 4 more birrths for Wiseman/ Ingleby combination on freebmd. ( with a clear gap to fit Lewis into)

Simply enter both surnames only

KathleenBell Report 29 Jan 2013 00:01

Well found Mike. I couldn't find a Wiseman/Dugleby marriage and thought the name might be mis-transcribed on the birth record.

KathleenBell Report 29 Jan 2013 00:05

On Findmypast there are 5 more births with a space where Lewis would fit.

Did your father have a sister and 4 brothers?

who surnames

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 29 Jan 2013 00:08

If you use FreeBMD to look for births of children you enter the father's surname and the mother's maiden name and look for any births that come up in the area you are looking for from the date of the parent's marriage for about 25 to 30 years afterwards and see what births come up.
