Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find Annie Verdon who I have been told by family had french parents.

I have no age or birth locations details for her and the first time I can locate details of her is at the birth of her son Edward in 1867 and his baptism All Saints, Poplar on 3 July 1868.
I also cannot find her on any cencus records at all.

She had 4 children of which the father was Edward Chater 1835 – 1908 from Warwickshire, Fenny Compton
Edward Verdon Chater 1867 – 1869 died ages 2yrs
Annie Sarah Chater 1868 Poplar, London – ? (married at age of 24)
Alfred Thomas Chater 1869 – 1869 died at birth
Emma Emily Chater 1870 Poplar, London – 1956

It doesn't look like Annie married Edward as Edward married a Louise in 1888 and was described as bachelor. Louise was a widow who was Edward's housekeeper.

I can find Annie's two surviving daughters living with Louise the housekeeper in 1881 as Edward was in hospital, and then Edward and Louise, now married, with surviving daughter Annie in 1891.

I cannot find any of the family in 1871 although know from baptism records that Edward and Annie lived in 4 Peabody Place, Lion St, Poplar

I have plenty on the family after 1891 but nothing at all on Annie Verdon.
Can anyone help me find Annie Verdon please?

Safc - the 1871 cencus you found is Annies daughters Emma and Annie Sarah with their housekeeper Louise who goes on to maary Edward later.

Edward was in hospital for this cencus but I don't know what for.
The eldest daughter Annie Sarah is put down as head of house, maybe as she was the eldest living family member in the home of that time.

Do you know Father of Edward 1888 Marriage?...

Edward's father was Thomas who was a blacksmith.
I've seen the third marriager to Sarah before and someone has it on a tree but I haven't been able to veryfy it is the same Edward although family bibles / letters hint at a third marriage as Louise died atthe age of approx 45 ish.

Her step daughter annie,edward's eldest daughter, was devasted at her death.

One suggestion is that Annie Verdon was in prison but I've found nothing to veify that yet.

It seems that Edward used Annie for producing children, but didn't let her live with him, or them.

Was Louisa perhaps barren?

Does the possible marriage to Sarah precede that date? Or follow it?

The cert would confirm whether or not it is for the Edward you are researching, as would the 1901 census

Annie lived with Edward in 4 Peabody Place, Lion St, Poplar according to the baptism records for child Edward (died aged 2) and daughter Annie Sarah.

I can't find anything for 1871 for Annie, Edward and children Emma and Annie Sarah. Nor can I find anything for Louise or her then husband Mr Comber.

Edward re married after Louises death but I didn't really have much info on that but that daughter Annie did not approve. She was devasted over Louises death.
The above possible record for 1871 and the one for Annie look interesting.

The 1888 marriage - I wonder if they re-married because one of them was not actually free to marry in 1882? Same fathers as the 1882 marraige although both are now deceased.
